Greetings. I find it very difficult to learn things by watching video tutorials – even well-made ones. If you have a pretty solid understanding of iClone, Character Creator, and 3DXchange, I would greatly appreciate some help in learning the basics of using these programs. I have up-to-date versions of all 3 programs. I have about one year’s experience with Blender and a couple of months with Cinema 4D. My intended use is to create short animations for a non-profit study group I run that discusses things like: the history of ideas, invention & discovery, science & technology, free speech, individual rights, Classical Liberal thinkers, etc. I’m in Melbourne, Australia. Happy to use Skype with screen-sharing or any other such video conferencing program. Please do not offer free help (thanks, anyway) but you can offer a lower price/2hr session if you’re feeling generous. I can currently afford 3 or 4 such sessions. To contact me, please send a PM or email me directly: prodos “at” prodos “dot” com. Thanks very much. :) Best Wishes, Prodos

I'm fairly new to iclone, just the last few months, but if no one takes you up on the offer I just recently had to stumble through learning everything so I would be able to impart the knowledge on you. There are so many hidden sliders and options the deeper you get into it, making everything truly customizable.

But now I'm sad :<( You KNOW I'll be glad to help you in any way you need -- just can't promise I'm always around. However, if you do get stuck (even with help gotten elsewhere) remember I'm still your friend and will still be here (even if this old man isn't going to ALWAYS be here :>).

Thank you very much, Mike. I've just sent you an email. For visitors to this Forum, let me just say that Mike Kelley has given me incredible iClone & MoCap assistance and advice off-forum. Frankly, I had given up on iClone & Reallusion products until Mike Kelley re-kindled my interest -- without even trying. Perhaps I'll write more about all that in a later message. Maybe. Best Wishes, PRODOS Melbourne, Australia

I tried to use the email address that you left, however I could not get it to work. What would you like to know.

Totally agree with you Prodos regarding Mike Kelley. I've just watched some of his recent videos and they're *very practical* and he describes the "why"s and the "why-not"s of things - which is excellent. I have similar learning difficulties and an 'aversion' to written instructions which are used as a 'last resort'. Why? - don't know really, - I just try moving the dials hoping for an 'intuitive experience' and there's only *some* software that 'resonates' with my creative brain. The biggest issue for stifling the creative process (I find), is software that constantly demands intellectual input by the user. It takes me out of the zone. I find iClone ticks a reasonable number of boxes in this regard - even though of course there's room for improvement ... just my 2c

Thanks for your comment sonic7. You may recall a while back I PM-ed you that I was sick of iClone -- or more precisely the TERRIBLE video tutorials that talk too fast and leave out crucial steps -- and was moving on to Blender. Now here I am again, still learning Blender (and Cinema 4D) and now wanting to ALSO give iClone another shot. Totally agree with you Prodos regarding Mike Kelley. He's got a quite a fan club, hasn't he?! :)One of the fine gentlemen who offered to help me learn iClone also raved on and on about Mike Kelley!I had to slap him to get that glazed look out of his eyes. It did no good. How do you fight a CULT?!But seriously, yes, Mike Kelley is an outstanding individual at many levels. The biggest issue for stifling the creative process (I find), is software that constantly demands intellectual input by the user. Interesting observation. Stay in touch!
