1. Does 3DX4 export
ANY Essential G3 Clonecloth as a base for texture+3D alteration in external 3D application such as Argile?
Yes 3DXchange4 will allow you to export all G3 CloneCloth to OBJ format.
(If so, do Premium CCD members like my IC3P self still need to submit a custom G2/G3 clothing texture to get permission for a "developer template"? Wouldn't 3DX4 to OBJ and DRM recognition make this "application" step redundant? )
To obtain the G2 and G3 3DS Max Avatar Templates does still require application. You can do this after you have submitted your first pack to the Content Store. They are supplied in Max format. The 3DXchange4 Resource Kit does include a rigged standard avatar in FBX format though.
2. It is possible to texture/deform standard (non-DRM) iClone hairs, shoes, accessories, props in Argile and port them back to iClone via 3DX4?
You can't edit Hair (iHair) files on their own but you can load them as part of a saved avatar. Accessories can be opened in VNS format but not iAcc format. You would need to rename any iAcc format files to iProp to open them.
3. Does 3DX4 classify newly created/imported 3D objects beyond 3DX2's mere three categories of Props/Accessory/3D Scene? Do we get hair and shoes and categories as well? If so, please refresh my mind the technicality of why hair and accessory are in separate categories?
When you export any model from 3DXchange it will automatically display the correct format for you. These could be Standard Avatar, Non-Human Avatar, Prop etc but not hair or accessories.
Hope this helps. :)
