animagic (3/27/2021) The problem for me is that now Content Manager is screwed up big time with the new hair content, which I can access from Smart Gallery but not from the CM causing both iClone and CC to hang when I select hair content.
Also, the Content Manager has become completely disorganized because items from some packs that used to have their own subfolder in Content Manager are now lumped together in the root. I have tried to convey that to RL in the past but that didn't get me anywhere.
Not very happy at the moment...:angry:Have you tried updating the "CC3 Embed Hair" pack in the Free Resource area of Smart Gallery? If not please try right clicking the "CC3 Embed Hair" thumbnail in your CC3 Smart Gallery and choose Update (as shown below). After updating this should hopefully make the Smart Hair content available in Content Manager.

Below is a perfect example of why I use the Content Manager rather than the Smart Gallery. All of the items shown above are listed as "Not Installed" in Character Creator. There's a perfectly good reason for that, most of them were purchased before CC was even developed and were never intended for use inside CC. If I didn't pay very careful attention to what the SG wants to download and install in my CC content folders I could run the risk of having so much unnecessary items that finding the ones that I need could end up being almost impossible. I only use the SG when forced to install content that was once packed in a separate, downloadable installer fully under the control of the intelligent (smart) user. I only install my purchased content using the RL Downloader, and have the SG disconnected and out of view at all other times.

The consistent error I'm now getting with the new release is that it "Failed to connect to the Smart Gallery Server". But in the past I've had a whole slew of errors, some so critical that it just made me tired trying to chase them down. And even on the (brief) times it was working (early on in the testing) it was SO slow for all my content it wasn't even funny. I think perhaps for folks without hundreds of items it might be worthwhile, but for me it's just not a practical application. It reminds me of how Daz is screwing things up by trying to validate all the content purchases and thus making it a LOT more difficult for folks. We really don't need a "smart" gallery, just a fast one (so the old content folders are great if we can just search them).

Kelleytoons (3/26/2021) I have NEVER been able to use Smart Gallery (or, as I prefer to call it, Smart Ass Gallery, since it's clearly a PITA). Still doesn't work in CC3 but never has for me. Worst software idea ever.Hello, Did you get any errors when using the Smart Gallery?

All told.... I still don't care for the so-called "Smart Gallery". I don't have the bandwidth on my mobile hotspot to redownload every single thing I should've had already available in the Template and Custom folders. Copy/paste from older versions works, but it's tedious.

Ok...so, I did everything as instructed....still nada. However.... I did find the FULL female smart hair set up in the Template tab>Hair Template>Style> Chic bun medium...the full ensemble, and applied it to the CC3+ default female avatar..... then, I had to save the individual elements to the Custom hair file. So, got what I wanted....just not quite the way as advertised. Thanks again for the reference to the hotfix...although I don't really know if the hotfix actually did the trick, or just me having to just resave the full ensemble as individual elements in Custom folder.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Downloading the YouTube video tutorial on this too since the HowTo.txt in the zip file is rather vague on install locations. (Ok...I got it....the video cleared it up.) Never really referred to my computer's internal HDD as "Local"... usually just C Drive. What can I say? I'm not a computer wizard. LOL! Anyhoo...thanks again, wires. Hope this works.
