So I thought it would be cool to see peoples approaches to creating a basic shower scene, complete with showering water, hair getting wet and flattening to the head, etc.
Who is up for a challenge to figure out the best way to do it?

I'll be the first (hope not last). Made this 2 years ago with with 4 Popcorn FX emitters.

I was attempting to create Python shower water, but yours is hard to compete with 4U2gess. I feel better knowing you didn't make this in the last few hours.

The water hose PopFX makes a good shower. It's very adjustable, and will bounce off rigid physics objects. I suck at making hair, but I think having hair that cam morph from fluffy to clumpy/clingy will add a lot of realism.

A video file of some water flowing down some glass turned into a black and white mask, then applied as a video to the bump map and specular channel of various objects might look pretty cool. Haven't got time to try that at the moment but that's what occurs to me off the top of my head.

I created this in iClone 5 back in February 2016 for my Town Pool Insta-Scene. http://www.grannyjs3dattic.com/iClone/POOL/OutdoorShower.mp4

I made this with a Python script, and this ended up being pretty expensive to my machine as towards the end I had to only add 10 water drops at a time. By the time it reached about 500 drops, it looks OK, but the weird thing is when I rendered the drops do not show up. In IClone they are clearly visible, so I had to do a screen recording instead of render. This was just a proof of concept. IClone needs a powerful system with more than 500 props. I didn't add a character, I just wanted to see what the water looked like.

@Data Juggler Instead of adding *hardcore* props, try multiplicating billboards with alpha to shape the drops of various shapes and randomly scaling them. And then reuse them as they reach the floor. Maybe adding physics to bounce off the body with random physics settings (not sure if that is possible with Python). Not sure if using billboards would save resources on such a scale, but worth to try. I used 2 types for my Popcorn shower - drops and spikes to create a volume. ![https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/f2cd5276-7152-4922-8873-3226.jpg](https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/f2cd5276-7152-4922-8873-3226.jpg) But with Python it's even more flexible as you can shape and reshape on the fly with algorithm. Looking forward to see more development :)

When I created a snowflake scene, I used cones that were only 96 triangles each. I used a water drop for this, and I should have just used a sphere. Each water drop was 3,000 triangles, where a sphere is only 1,200. I did reuse the same props, it just takes a lot of water drops to make a shower. I will play with it again and try to improve it.

Well, billboards have 0 triangles (they probably have 2 as a plane, but it's not showing anyway). Rotate Z billboard would be most appropriate for the case.
