Hello all!
     Retro question for the "old timers"!  I've always thought I was a little confused regarding the nomenclature of the different generations of characters (all of which I still use, with the exception of G1), even apart from the whole G4 debacle.  I haven't even messed with G6 & G7 (other than to make a few hybrids with G5 heads), because I don't own Crazy Talk and have no use for characters with generic heads, and because, of all the avatars, I still prefer G5.  Getting back on topic though, I recently stumbled upon an old iClone 4 tutorial, foolishly watched it, and now, instead of suspecting that I am confused, I KNOW I am confused.  For quite a few years, I have thought that the actual G2's were G1's,that the unknown generation I am asking about here was the G2, and as for the real (one piece) G1, I hadn't even known that avatar existed, as I started with iClone 5.  So referring to the attached pic of the three avatars, I now know that the first is actually a G1, the second (which have somewhat deformed arms, and which I originally thought were G1's) is a G2, and the third (finally with anatomically correct arms, other than the shoulders) is a G3.  So what is this one (other pic), which I had erroneously thought was G2, with slim, tubular arms and long legs?

I believe that was a g2 -   when uppers and lowers were 1 layer of mesh.  ( looking specifically at the green shorts,  i think the one to the right of her is g3 ) g3 was when they introduced multiple layers of clothing.

Correction,  the girl in green shorts is a g1    -  the one in the string bikini i believe is also G1  - and possibly Will Veeke's work.

the older iclone characters are great for ray tracing -  very fast to render

I did a video once, showing a whole bunch of G1 and G2 characters. G2 brought us the first CloneCloth, I believe.
