I've not used Moviestorm, but from what I can see in the videos the preset lighting and canned animations are indeed excellent. It's just that these are limited to about 50 sets, only about ten of which you get with the free version. So users presumably don't have to think about setting up the animation or lighting, but that comes at a price. The lack of uniqueness. Yes, there are a handful of mod sites - but not many from what I can see. The Wiki currently lists only a handful of modders. And Moviestorm modders need to be licensed. Moviestorm just seems to be going in the wrong direction in so many ways, while iClone gets more and more open. Canned lighting, slick camera set-ups and smooth animations are all very well, but they don't outweigh the drawbacks. Of course, you don't need to use one or the other. You could use both, along with videogame captures, Poser....
You talk in your other posts about making custom-built sets of the backstreets slums of third-world countries, featuring specialist props that will also need retexturing. That's something you're unlikely to ever be able to buy 'off the shelf' in Moviestorm. But you can do it easily in iClone, and it can look great if you have the patience to learn the software and how to make a good set and light it. Most iClone users don't, of course. They just want to press the "make it easy!" button, quickly followed by the "make it dance!" button.

Thanks guys.
I checked out one of them but i know that Iclone and moviestorm are seperate and different moviemaking applications, but with the kind of features Iclone has don't you think movies should be far superior.
I dont know if some of the videos are uploaded with low quality and that's why it looks pixelated etc but I downloaded this video -That's amore
http://www.moviestorm.co.uk/community/index.php?page=videos§ion=view&vid_id=103715
The output quality, actor performances and lighting etc..the overall visual quality is also good.Is it possible to achieve this kind of output with Iclone..Forget the effects part but getting good expressions, poses, lighting etc from Iclone.
If there are movies like this-not pixelated no action effects etc.
Regards

"they should look like as if the backgrounds were made in iclone and not the realistic background as if shot from camera."
You could defocus the background a little, with the iClone virtual camera?
"The backgrounds suppose I want them to look like slums of Africa or India or streets of Asian countries, then what do I do?"
http://search.creativecommons.org/ ....and uncheck the "use for commercial" box.
"How to create vehicles like tuktuk from Bangkok or autorickshaws of India? In Google SketchUp?"
You can find them ready-made on Google 3D Warehouse. Just use the iClone companion software called 3Dxchange to convert them for iClone.....

As far as waltz with bashir is concerned, don't you think moviestorm comes close to giving that look somewhat.
moviestorm films - ad hominem attack film or cafe insomaniac episode 2 or 1 Actually I havent seen any Iclone movie close to this quality,if you can help me with some example videos created from Iclone 4. I mean a proper movie kind of story and not random shots pieced together.

Hello,
Thanks for your prompt replies. Actually I don't want the backgrounds to look like real, they should look like as if the backgrounds were made in iclone and not the realistic background as if shot from camera. The character anyways will be 3d custom character which can be created in Iclone. The backgrounds suppose I want them to look like slums of africa or India or streets of asian countries, then what do i do?
How to create vehicles like tuktuk from bangkok or autorickshaws of India? In google sketch-up is it?
Regards

I looked at some stills from Waltz with Bashir. I see they're cel-shaded with a graphic novel / pulp comic-book inked style. So, no - you can't easily do that style in iClone. To do that you would I guess need to use major 3D software such as Maya or 3D Max. With expensive cel-shading plugins, and also expect weeks and weeks of rendering time. Or perhaps you could do it using 2D billboards, 2D video-clips for actors, and then combine them all in After Effects with a AE cel-shading plugin?
The huge advantage of using iClone - instant rendering! It can give good results if you take the time to learn, and add good lighting.
iClone may do cel-shading in the future, or it may parcel it out to a third-party rendering plugin. But not soon.
Some people are experimenting with running their iClone video through video-editing suite filters to get a Waltz with Bashir effect.

Yes - you can make 2D cut-out scenery in iClone. Like traditional theatre stage scenery. You can make these "billboards" static, or you can have them always face the camera. Billboards can also be flexible (flex props). You can also make animated billboards with "green screen" from a real-life video camera, if you have the popVideo Converter 2.
Here are some useful links:

http://www.reallusion.com/popvideo/default.asp
You could use other software to do the same thing, but they all seem very expensive and far more complicated than iClone (Flash, After Effects, Toon Boom Animate).
I am unfamiliar with the "Waltz with Bashir" film, sorry.
