I use Png's for Opacity. You just have to set the parts you want to hide to black, and the part you want to show to white. (I found out after I created this that IClone does a poor job of rendering with a foot in the shoe, because you can't see the foot, but that is another issue). Uses this Opacity:

It's usually better to use a JPG as Opacity map, as there seems to be a conflict with PNGs. However, I believe that if you load a PNG with an Alpha channel then that will be used if the Opacity slot is empty.

Hi! Anyone know what the logic is behind using PNG's as opacity maps. It look like it ignores the image if there is an alpha channel in the PNG no matter what I do, is that the expected behavior ? and if so is there any way to tell iClone to use the image instead of the alpha channel for opacity or do I have to convert it to an RGB PNG or a JPG for it to work ?
