Welcome back...;)

With textures getting better but also larger, VRAM seems to be the most important factor. I have a GTX 1080ti with 11 GB and I run into the limit every now and then..

An RTX 3900 with 24GB would do nicely, but they are almost impossible to get at the moment. It would also be something to have in a desktop PC because of the size of the GPU.

iClone does use multiple cores, but I don't know up to how many. More important with a powerful GPU is whether the CPU can keep up with it, the so-called bottleneck.

You can find out about the effectiveness of CPU/GPU combinations using a bottleneck calculator: https://pc-builds.com/calculator/.

What also helps is to have enough RAM. I'm now thinking about 64 or 128 GB.

Dear community,

since a couple of years, I am back with Iclone and I am loving the quality of the rendering and CC3. I did render a 4k project 30 sec video yesterday. a simple item in PBR highest quality render settings of the engine.
Now, what happened, that the system took 1sec per frame in rendering time, which is ok.
But when I looked on the stats of my computer I found:
CPU usage = 42%
GPU usage = 36%
(I have a Acer Predator Helios 300 Laptop with I7 10750H (6cores) and RTX 2070 Max (8GB)

In case I continue to work with Iclone I may need to get the 3090 to get 24GB of memory usage.

Now I wanted to ask:

if the number of processors plays a role. Is it better to have more cores? Or is Iclone only using a limited set of cores? And is it only the processer speed that makes the difference?

Thanks

Steffen
(I have attached the video. I used an item that is roughly 5years ago and played a bit with the bump map and other material settings. I think it looks great)
