The After Effects script is a fantastic idea, but what would be even more fantastic is if something similar could be done to work with the likes of Da Vinci Resolve, or another free alternative program. Not all of us have endless budgets, especially hobbyists, able to pay the high monthly fee for the likes of After Effects. Whilst I love Cartoon Animator and iClone, it is these "hidden" continuing cost of add-ons and extra features which drives the likes of myself to MOHO, Blender and OpenToonz. The current cost to me as a hobbyist for After Effects is £238 per annum, or £30.34 per month. This is a cost which professionals can incorporate in their budgets but hobbyists like myself would struggle to justify or maintain.

Thank you very much for your suggestion!

This is very important for us, which allows us to think about the direction of cartoon animator.
If you have other good ideas, welcome to respond to the Wishful list of the forum!

Hi,

I absolutely agree with your comment. We are paying to much money for additional software.

I totally agree that subscription based services can become quite expensive if you are a hobbyist. Thats why its great that you only have to pay for a lot of the Cartoon Animator add-ons if you feel they are useful to you. Also, I do believe there are free alternatives that will give similar results. Just takes a bit more work. After Effects makes it so much easier.

But you dont need to. There are plenty of free alternatives you can use. The paid for versions just tend to offer more and make life easier. We cant expect everything in life to be free.

They could make an openfx plugin if they wanted to.  This would take care of the people who do not use Adobe products.  I wish they would stop calling all photo editing and digital art programs PSD editors.  These programs don't exist just to edit PSD files.

I agree with initial poster.  A lot of the products are geared away from what I use.  I do not use Adobe products and I own a Mac.  These limitations disallow a lot of users the full ability to freely enjoy their investment in the Reallusion software.

I also believe that it is unfair to come on many forum threads and say in no uncertain terms that people are just trying to get something for FREE.  The AE plugin WAS for FREE, at least when I got it it was.  The problem is that AE is not the ONLY software out there.  It would be nice if Reallusion did a poll of some sort to see the most common software their users utilize so that they may be able to focus their attention on making plugins that can be used in a variety of software and not just Adobe.

I can understand if it were an internal plugin from one Reallusion product to another (that can be used by BOTH Windows AND Mace users), but not a selected EXPENSIVE EXTERNAL product.

Thank you, @Macdonut.
I can't afford Adobe software so am always looking for alternatives. You have introduced me to Da Vinci Resolve. Looks interesting, especially Magic Mask.  👍
