Hello everyone!

Welcoming all of you to join me in this adventure! :)

Long story short, the main idea was born and inspired by the culture of ancient Siberian tribes obsessed with the idea of connecting to afterworld. If you lucky and somehow get a chance to travel to these places you will see a lot of bright bended trees all over the places. These trees are supposed to be the bodies for spirits from the outside.

 
 

As the legends say, these spirits are slowly dying under the pressure of prayers and their endless gifts and sacrifices. 
That's just the thing I wanted to express - the old ghost living inside the tree on it's way to death.

To be more specific, I started to look for some inspos of everything that my be related to this character. It could be colours, details, moods, motions and etc... Finally the moodboard looked like this:


Just in the process I realized that I want to express a concrete character - the spirit of Oruk Mas tree, the one who can help a woman to bear a child. The spirit was brought to life after a woman buried afterbirth leftovers under the roots of the tree. The power of Oruk Mas spirit is concentrated in the belly and tightly connected to the tree.

The concept art of this dying, exsiccated creature is demonstrated below:



I tried to set a range of colors matching the essence of the character and some vague sketches of how the creature must look and be decorated.

Hello everyone!

Getting back to our sculpting.

First of all, I modified default woman morph in CC3 to make it look similar to the concept. That means skinny body type, fallen cheeks, unusuallu long and thick arms and fingers. That's what I got on that stage:




Secondly, I exported the body and continued sculpting in ZBrush in order to precise forms and details. On that stage I removed eyes, ears, changed lips shape and facial bones to match the concept. Also the most notable deformation is a hole in the middle of the body.
