I have installed Blender 3 times now and given up. Now that version 2.8 is out for a while it is on my todo list to try again. Thanks for the reply.

Blender is free and has a terrain creator. You can export as .fbx and import through 3DXchange.

I figured it out. The image is just a picture with dimensions of 2048 x 256. Now I know.

Just curious how to create my own. Is there some software that makes this easy? Bonus question, if I wanted to create my own terrains, what software would be the easiest for this? Thanks
