Just to be clear. The makeup and realistic human skin pack technically could all be made by just using the SkinGen plug-in alone. Correct?
Or do they have extra things that are not in the "SkinGen Plug-in" ?
Right now I don't care about morphs and just want to make awesome looking skin to sell on the marketplace. So with that being said, I should only need the plugin. Right?

I just don't want to buy something I technically don't need.

If you are planning on using all your own skin textures then you only really need the SkinGen Premium plugin. However, the Realistic Human Skin pack includes an enormous amount of content that really showcases what SkinGen can do so is highly recommended if only for inspiration. ;)

Dorothy,

First of all, huge fan, I have your skin textures, swimwear, and some clothing. Thank you very much!

Okay, in regards to what you are trying to do, and seeing your work, I will have to let you down and tell you that, it will require you to spend money to do what you should have been able to do in just the Plug-in. Reallusion decided to make what was once included in Character Creator 2, now has to be paid for in CC3..Even some of the basic makeup selections are only available in the Premium $229 version. Sad....I just posted to one of the threads stating how this was really an inconvenience. I attached the same image that I sent in that thread so you can see what I mean. This is very disappointing, even just to do a simple skin adjustment.

What can you say though, it won't change anything because it's already done, and they are NOT going to change it. Either buy it, or leave it, and that's the message now that they are sending to people, now that they have a name in the Gaming/Indie Film industry. Forget us hobbyists! LOL!

I think you may be misinformed. You don't need to spend anything to get access to the Skin and Makeup options. All basic functionality is included for free, but with the SkinGen Premium Plug-in you have access to advanced tools and customisation options. This was the same in Character Creator 2 where the CC Essentials was required to enable the advanced customisation options.

Please see the link below to find out what is included in the FREE update.

Well, why were there so FEW amount of choices given in the vanilla vs having to pay for the full library, when half of that, or even a least a quarter of that, could have been included in the vanilla?

It just seems like you guys are really starting to push a lot of stuff pricing it unreasonably high, for even what it's worth in the market. It's like you guys forgot about the source in which you became who you are from (the hobbyists), and now because you market to Gamers/Indie Filmmakers, now you care less about everyone else and just focus solely on them. Maybe it's because you know they will pay the money and not care about it because they are monetizing their product so they can easily make that back, in comparison to us.

Well, in any case, like I mentioned, this is a waste of breath because it doesn't matter as nothing will change. Your label/brand will continue to push this way, and we have to choose whether or not we want to purchase or not, right? It's just that simple.

Have a good day! :D

Yeah, it would be nicer to have the assets split into smaller, cheaper parts.
However, for creators, it's possible to get along with the plugin only. Also, there are other sources of assets that could be combined to create something unique.

Well as you would expect I don't agree with your comments but you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Perhaps as you spend a bit of time with the free SkinGen update you will see that there is more there than you initially thought and it it certainly isn't all hidden behind a paywall.

For those who may be confused about what you get for FREE and what you get with the PAID SkinGen Plug-in, please see below.

NO early bird price for each pack which is $99 US per pack

cheapest early bird pack $179 US $282 there abouts for me so those of us who are mostly hobbist's I guess don't get any savings because we have to shell such a large amount of money in one hit
that we don't have.

The free version doesn't match the skin correctly and with limited tools this will be hard to fix. I started with the default character selected a face use current and soft face for a female on the pro tab

I tried to use some of the new skins on the default character and got not compatible with CC3+
this is the image I started with

Where's all the pink come from?

Trying to use the nipple decal and match decals to the current skin CAN'T do it

Sure, we get decal to use BUT only at the default shade. NO way to blend them into the skin created byt headshot to match the chracter created by Headshot, if you right click the decal to edit the skin hade
you get the lovely get you wallet out message.

Feels like exstortion to me export gimped and make us pay for the fix
I'm sorry BUT this feels disgustingly greedy

I'm pretty new to RL stuff, but I do feel like there are quite a few things designed to 'segment the market' for maximum profit- the 'export license' business- two different prices for the same item, for instance. I am sure there is an argument for each of these from RL, but they add up to a pattern that makes me reluctant to get much deeper into RL stuff, because I certainly can't afford to get it all, and I have a hard time knowing if things I do get will function without something else that I don't have. Oh, I'm sure they'll do something- but what, exactly?

I appreciate the clarification up a couple of posts on what is in the embedded Skingen add-on and what is in the Premium version. Looking at the site's marketing for Skingen, I really couldn't tell, and that's generally how I feel after looking at RL sales material. There is some really great stuff from this company, but often I feel as if somebody in marketing is trying very hard to sell me things I don't need or want by making things confusing. Perhaps that's effective with some people, but it just makes me put away my wallet.

Of course, RL is not alone in this, but I don't regard that as an excuse. I hope Reallusion will focus on giving customers- whoever they are- the most bang for the buck going forward. My reading of the tea-leaves tells me that the turn-of-the-millenium profit extraction models of the software industry are reaching the end of the rope and companies that cling to those models are going to have a tough time dealing with the competition they're inviting. I would really hate to see my investment in CC3, minor as it is on RL's books, dead end due to problems that really have nothing to do with the software itself.
