I have a Female Cartoon character that needs to cry with tears in the story. How would you go with it?

No why is she crying? ;-)
I would do it like in the video here (he is using rain) Maybe you only need to keyframe the roughness of the eyes till they look wet , if you want real tears you have to do it with the particle system...maybe there is a ready one in the Unreal Store.
watch at 13.40min

Bassline303 (7/3/2020) No why is she crying? ;-)
Because she is naughty girl and she just realized her mistake in the end :) Lots of things to learn in animation and sometimes it is overwhelming

There is certainly lots to learn and I'm working my way through it slowly but surely but I think the Unreal / Iclone thing has been a big eye-opener for the realtime quality that can be achieved.....Just imagine what could be produced if Iclone had the same render engine and camera quality as Unreal dose and combine that with the tools and ease for animation Iclone has..oh wow... we can dream I suppose. Bassline303 or anyone else, I'm working on a project in Iclone where I bring in green screen actors keyed out in Popvideo which I find very good, these 2D plates can be brought into Iclone as a billboard or a plain and placed in a 3D scene with such ease it's remarkable, this is working great but it would be even better if I could do this in Unreal, Question? can we live link a video plate into Unreal?.. or what should I be looking at in Unreal in order to do this? I've played with composure plugin but not sure this is the correct tool as I can not place the keyed figure in a part of the scene that I want, unlike the simple method used in Iclone. Thanks for any help or pointers with this. Neal

@nealtucker yes that is possible with unreal but because you need an alpha it is only possible with image sequences , png format. Mp4 or AVi are not working also not in Sync , PNG Seq, are. With the upcoming IC 7.8 you can import or Live-Link props very easy.
Right click in the Content Folder/Media/IMG Media Source and Media/Media Player There are some Documentations and Tutorials out there. Search for IMG Media Source. You don't need any Blueprints as long you are working with the Sequencer , working on Runtime is another thing. It is not as easy as in IClone but what is easy in UE ? ;-)
In this Video here I did the technic from above :
The other way is to key the green out in UE4 , there is a new compositing feature in UE4.

Updated the Video 1+2 for Chroma Keying Video...above In the Video 1 he is doing a small Blueprint , when you are working with Sequencer , you don't need it , you only have to add a Media Track into the Sequencer (+Track) and right click the track to add the Media Player.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into IMG media source videos. In the example above with the greenscreen, the image is on a flat plain / wall ( a bit like the Iclone video/picture plain) and keyed out using a similar workflow as in composure, in composure I used greenscreen MP4 footage and it keyed out good but I want to place the keyed video/wall somewhere in a scene, this seems possible as I have seen videos on walls in Unreal but am I missing something as you say only an image sequence can be used? Thanks Neal

Watch the first Video of Chroma Keying , he is using a mp4 with no alpha , that works when you do the keying in UE4. The only thing I explored is that when you need the absolute sync like to music or speech it is not as accurate as Image Sequences. You can chroma key Image Sequences too in UE4 not only mp4 or AVI...but the Image Sequences have to be at 30fps or whatever you are working in sequencer....I use Premiere to export PNG Image sequences , don't know if Popvideo can do it.
test it with your mp4 , the chroma keying is easier , but watch the frame rate (25/30/60) of your green screen video , it has to be the same as the sequencer frame rate. The rest is like in IClone , add the Video shader to a plane and you can move the plane where you want....
For Video on walls or floors I would use the Decals Shader with the Media Player as Texture....

Thanks very much for the info, now I know where to look, it's becoming clearer now and it seems all is possible if you put the work in, like you said, nothing is straight forward in Unreal but the results can be great. For information, Pop video will output Mov(ProRes) Avi and Avi Alpha, N.
