I have an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX 24 core, which, until a little while ago, used the be the baddest and most expensive, and everything works fine with iClone 7. So I don't see why it would not work with that beast of yours, which I would like to have BTW.

It also depends on your graphics card and the amount of RAM you have.

Certain iClone features make use of an Nvidia graphics card. If you have an AMD card, CPU and RAM will be used instead, which is less efficient.

Thanks! I'm in a FB group and someone mentioned they had issues on AMD but it sounds like it was awhile ago.
I'm making my proposal for a minimum spec 3990 machine with a Titan RTX.
They say you should give each core 1-2gb ram and some extra for others. Obviously more ram would be greater but im trying to
make a min spec machine that I can upgrade with more ram and a extra Titan down the line.

thanks for your help!

Currently, iClone does not use RTX features. It also only supports one GPU. It will be happy with 24 GB of VRAM of the Titan RTX. Of course, this may change in the frture.

There is an Iray plugin for iClone, which is marginally useful for rendering animation. Although there are Iray versions that support RTX, the iClone plugin does not. It will support multiple GPUs.

Upcoming improvements of the iClone native renderer are expected to help close the gap between the visual quality of ray-tracing and iClone's own renderer. With effort, much can already be accomplished today.

Since you are specking your system apparently, it is recommended to have a data drive different from your system drive. Better quality comes with larger file sizes for content, so that is something to keep in mind. I have just upgraded my system drive to 1 TB, and I have a data drive just for RL content of 2 TB. I have been around a while so I have a lot...Crazy

i know that it is the basic model that would benefit from more ram but at the moment I will trade
power in exchange for all the other benefits like faster drives. I will keep the Vault on the OS drive.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X 64core / 128thread
64gb RAM upgradeable to 256gb.
1 RTX TITAN upgradeable to 2 in SLI
1 2tb M.2 pci OS drive
1 2tb M.2 pci PROJECT drive
1 10tb backup HD
1200w PS, Liquid cooled CPU

64 GB is respectable. I have 32 GB and are doing fine overall.

After carefully reading on this forum various advices and opinions about what could/would be a good hardware configuration, eventually I've ordered this:
- AMD Ryzen 9 3950X (16 cores, 32 threads, 72MB cache, 4.7 GHz max overclock)
- EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (FTW3 overclock, 11GB  GDDR6)
- 2 x 32 GB RAM (Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz, DDR4)
- 2 x 1 TB SSD (Samsung 970 Pro PCIe NVMe M.2 2280)
- 8TB HDD (Seagate Barracuda Pro Internal 3.5" SATA 7200 RPM, 6Gb/s, 256 MB cache)
Hopefully will be up-and-running by the end of next week.
