As you know I am just a starting dummy. I created a simple location and now I want to light it. With diffuse light there are no imediate problems but ... I create a spotlight but it doesn't give any light at all. I see the spot itself, I can manipulate it but it doesn't give light nor shadow. Of course I'm doing something wrong but has anyone an idea what I am doing wrong?
Thanks for any help.
Axel.

Hi Axel, Heres a good lighting tutorial from RL - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpsd3bURsuU while the Iclone manual has a whole lighting section here - https://manual.reallusion.com/iClone_7/ENU/Content/iClone_7/Pro_7.4/00_LandingPages/Lighting.htm

To get the basics its often useful to turn everything off and then start with your lights turning them on one at a time to see the effects.  Remember ambient light (set to black to turn it off), Global Illumination (GI which is usually off by default) and IBL (usually on by default, found at the bottom of the visual menu) will affect the lighting as well

That was a great help. One thing that I suppose is that, when I create a spotlight for example that it comes not always at the place I want it and it is sometimes far away from that. So of course I don't see the light. I saw in a tutorial that probably the best way is to use the align tool and align the light to the object I want.
With the help of my friends I'm coming closer (however still an enormous way to go).
Thanks.
Axel.

Yea that happens with a lot of things when you drag and drop whereas if you just double click on an item it should drop the origin at 0/0/0.  using the align tool is good tip to remember in lots of scenarios.
