Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to create 2D models like the ones that come packaged with CrazyTalk 8. I can't seem to find a tutorial on this, even knowing what the proper tools are would help a lot! Do I need to have CT8 Pipeline version? Thanks for taking a second to guide a beginner.

Hi...

To create a 2D or 3D talking head in CrazyTalk 8 just requires a good quality front facing photo or drawing.

To see how to create a 2D Head please watch the tutorial below.

And to create 3D Head please watch the one below.

Thanks for the reply. I apologize that I was not as clear as I should have been. I want to create ct7Model files or something similar (maybe ctiModel?) that can be imported into CT8 for 2D animation. To be even clearer, what tools are used by the sellers in the online store like Garry Pye to make 2D CT8 content? These can't be created in CT8 as far as I can tell. It looks like you create them in CrazyTalk Animator or maybe Character Creator. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for explaining more.

The heads you mention by Garry Pye (and Tokomotion) are 3D heads not 2D heads and are generally created in Character Creator 2 and then exported to CrazyTalk 8 Pipeline.

2D heads do not need CrazyTalk Animator or Character Creator. The only additional tools you will need are image editing software like Photoshop, Affinity Photo, Gimp etc. or Drawing Software like Illustrator, Affinity Designer etc. Using these tools you would prepare your artwork or photos and then create the head in CT8 using the built in 2D creation tools.

Please Note: The file formats used in Character Creator 3 are not compatible with CrazyTalk 8. To be able to create 3D heads for CT8 you would need to use Character Creator 2.

Thank you for your precise response! I may never actually do it, but now I finally know exactly what is required to make that happen. And the Character Creator 2 tip is priceless.
