I'm running into an issue with keeping a fight scene in sync. Meaning, in iClone I have two characters, each with approximately 44 choreographed movements. So far I only set up the first few moves to get an idea of the workflow. The issue is when they get to Unity I have to sort of start all over again because they are not facing each other correctly and they are at the wrong distance. They also seem to be off and need further tweaking. If I fiddle with it in Unity then changes in iClone are not possible unless I start all over again. I don't want to do that.

My workflow currently is two characters in the same iClone scene. Get the fight scene the way I want it, then for each character individually Collect Clip and save MotionPlus to library. Then send each character to CC3, or I can just use the character I already have in CC3, attach the saved MotionPlus clip, and T-Pose (making sure T-Pose is on top).  Then drag onto the Timeline in Unity.

Is there a better workflow? I would like to move both characters at the same time and have them import into Unity at the same time. Is this possible? Ideally, I would make no animation changes in Unity.

Hello Dan!

It seems to be a bug of Auto Setup tool.  It happens when the character is not at 0,0,0 position while animating.
The current workaround is:
1. Turn off the auto-processing
2. Open the Rig panel, and select "Enforce T Pose"
3. Press the done button

Please let us know if it works, thanks.

Hey Miranda,

Ok, so I tried out the workaround. When I put the animations on the Timeline the characters dropped into the floor and when I hit play they just rotate their shoulders.  :) Kind of funny to watch but not the expected behavior.

I think my workflow is wrong.

1. I export the character to CC_Assets Unity. This is my main character.
2. I animate this same character in iClone 7, save the motions with collect clip.
3. In CC3, attach T-pose and motions (T-pose on top).
4. Export to Unity in a different folder.
5. My main character is on the Timeline, the character I just brought in with animations is a duplicate of the main character.
6. I use the animations from the other character (the duplicate of the main character).

Maybe this is causing the problem. The workflow seems so odd because I end up with various duplicate characters because I can't just bring in the animations. The issue is there is no round-tripping between Unity and iClone 7 so it is one way only on the workflow. Every time I want new animations then I have to go through this long process of iClone 7, to CC3, to Unity, save a different character with those animations. There must be a better workflow than this.

Make sure your animations are set to Humaniod in the Rig tab (Import settings)

I should have checked that, thank you. When I forced the T-Pose it did change it to Generic.

Hi Miranda, it does mean they work now but I will have to wait until I have more time to see if they hold their timing and if this workflow will work. I'm about to head out for work right now so no time. However, at first glance, I think it will work. Thank you.

How are you getting your animations from IClone to CC3?

In iClone, save the animation in .rlMotion file.
In CC, load .rlMotion file in the FBX export panel. In this way, animations will be exported along with CC character.
