Hi all. I'm thinking about hosting a movie night this year. What is it? - For the uninitiated, a movie night is a chance to get together with some of your fellow movie makers to watch previously unseen animated movies live on Youtube while chatting it up in the chatroom. Preceding and in between the movies we generally have teasers and trailers, interviews, trivia and other bits of amusement. Previous movie nights (see here, here and here) have been a blast and featured some great premiers such as Bezzer's Scarlet Lake, Ctrlz's The Road, Mum is Dead by Rene Jacobs and Under the Shards of Athena by Biggstrek. When is it? - I'm thinking about sometime in June. This would give us all four months to start and or finish your project, promote the event and figure out any technical issues on the event side. Where is it? - Youtube has a live streaming component that includes chatroom functionality. You would upload your movie as unlisted, I would add the movie to a playlist with trailers and other stuff and then stream the playlist at an agreed upon time. I would likely use my personal Youtube page to stream but this is just my initial thoughts. Why should I participate? - Movie nights have a lot of benefits. Its a chance to actively participate with the community, get some eyeballs on your latest project, share resources with other directors (I know I'm more likely to lend a helping hand/voice when working towards a similar goal) and get some motivation to complete your projects. I generally try to promote the event and the directors here on the forum as well as on facebook groups and wherever might be effective. Plus it can be very fun, inspiring and rewarding to sit down, watch your movies and have live feedback and interaction with other directors/filmmakers.
What do I want you to do right now? - Think about participating. I'm looking for projects that have not yet been released. Projects that you are proud of. Projects that will help generate interest in the event and make it a success for everyone. All genres are welcome. Generally shorter projects work better live so I would consider keeping lengths to something shorter than 25 minutes.
Let me know if you might be interested (email - thebiz.movies@gmail.com, pm me in this forum or post on this thread). Thanks!

Sounds great Biz. The last one was a lot of fun. I'm pushing to have Ari III done before that so hopefully I can participate. pete

Hi all, I'm sorry for not keeping this updated but I'm not sure at this time I can dedicate as much time as needed to the event. If anyone would like to host the movie night it just a matter of coordinating with the directors, promoting the event and setting up the tech side. Id love to attend (time willing at that tIme of course) but I just don't have the focus to run things on my end. The world is a hectic place right now.
