Any help input would be very much appreciated.
My current pc is still going strong but runs on Windows 7 pro so looking for a Windows 10 replacement.
I want to keep this one intact because some of my software will not work on Windows 10 so I can still use it and usb stick over to the new.
Anyway I have always gone Intel but the latest AMD Ryzen 3950X 16 core has caught my eye and has got some good reviews.
So below is a image of a maybe build that I could do those that know about building a pc could give me advice.

I have no experience with AMD, but have heard positive things about here, so they may want to chime in. AMD used to be power hungry but I believe they worked on that.

Since this will be a pricey system anyway with the Titan RTX, I would suggest to go with 64 GB RAM. The motherboard should handle that.

I agree with getting 1 TB for system drive. I have 500 GB, which is OK, but 1 TB is not a waste.

For your storage drives I would go larger. Since SSDs are so much cheaper now, I would get a 2 TB for your first storage drive. I use that one exclusively for RL content and projects (so Template and Custom) and I have already over 700 GB. So 2TB (or more) will give you room to grow.

Since your second storage drive is a hard drive I would get 4 TB or more. This is where I have everything except RL content, such as downloads, images, Vegas video projects, etc. I went for a Hitachi (HGST) Ultrastar 4TB drive, which is an enterprise-level drive with 5 year warranty. But, there is some confusion as it seems that this now goes as Western Digital Gold...

Thanks for the reply animagic I will see how much your suggestions put up the price.
Shame no one has commented on AMD as this is what I have the most doubts about.
Again thanks:)

I cannot comment on the latest generation of AMD Ryzen chipsets. However, seven years ago I needed to build a new system and could not afford to go the Intel route. I used a system builder in the UK called PC Specialist as they allowed for the full spec of the machine to be specified online for the build. Back then there was of course no Ryzen I went for the AMD FX8350 native 8 core running at 4GHz. This was over £250 cheaper than going the Intel route. In seven years I have never had a days problem with this system, I have opened it up, messed around with it, upgraded the RAM and the Nvidia GPU (from a GTX780 to a GTX1080). It never failed to boot, even after all my abuse.

So, I have no trouble buying AMD again and if I had the money right now I would straight up by a Ryzen system, end of story.

Hello:

I use a Ryzen system and have been very happy with it. ( a 2700 in an x570 board )   I suggest you have a look at a site called Logical Increments. They lay out systems in a way that makes it easy to compare different levels of components. For example if you look at the 3950x vs the 3900x you'll see that they are almost identical in single threaded performance, You'll also see that there is a significant price difference.

I would suggest you change the ram to 2 16 gig sticks. You then have the option to add 2 more sticks at a later date.  I also believe you can get faster ram now.

The titan is way outside of my experience zone. If you do buy it I would be very curious as to if you think it is worth the money.

Thank you for replying. That does sound positive for AMD.
P C Specialists is where I did this spec build for my new build.

Thank you for mentioning Logical Increments I went and had a look, very helpful showing the option builds, I was down in the Enthusiast and the Category below
also that you use a Ryzen system.

So you have both given me food for thought. :)
Now which one of you will offer to help me unbox and set up this beast if I purchase, as I know when this pc I am using arrived it was very daunting knowing what to do and in what order :D:w00t:
