Hi there - I'm new to iClone and Character Creator, and I'm having a bit of a struggle with the CC Essentials skin pack.  I have a couple of questions:

I want to use the features such as decals etc. on my avatars but I can't seem to get it to work.  I understand there is an ongoing issue with the CC3 base characters being unable to use the Appearance Editor, which is a bit rubbish but I heard it's supposed to be patched early this year so they can, is that correct?

I tried using the CC1 base avatar and that can load the appearance editor, but when I tried to get a decal on it was a train wreck.  Very hard to work out how to load the actual base image (double click, when drag and drop works in every other part of the UI), and then the transparencies didn't work - I seemed to get a solid grey rectangle.

Also, I have already created several avatars using Headshot, and I'd like to try the PBR skin on them that came with the Essentials pack, but it destroys the Headshot skin.  Is there a way of switching to the PBR skin and getting the headshot textures and colours applied to it retrospectively?

Edit - I only really want the CC essentials PBR skin so I can do the layered decals and stuff to it.  Am I barking up the wrong tree here?  When CC3 characters can be used with the appearnace editor, can I do layered stuff with Digital Human skins?

Okay I figured one thing out almost instantly after posting this.

To replace the DH skin with PBR Essentiars skin via Headshot:
Open project
Open Headshot plugin
Drag/apply the Essential Skin
Click on "Update Skin Texture" at the bottom of the Headshot window

sorted :)

Bumping this because I recently purchased CC3 and the morph and skin package. I have not been able to put a tattoo on a body part. I can put a decal on a shirt.

At the moment it is not possible to use the Appearance Editor to make adjustments to any CC3 character. If you wish to add tattoos to a character, or make any other changes to the skin you need to load a CC1 character first. These can be found in the folder shown below:

Once loaded in the scene the Appearance Editor can be activated.

I read that the Appearance Editor would be available ffor CC3 characters but still haven't seen anything about it since last year. Really anxious to get hold of it. Anyone know anything I don't?

I went for a shortcut in the end - export the generated skin, edit it in a paint package to add the tattoos, and drop it back on the character.  To be honest it's far, far, FAR faster to achieve than excruciatingly trying to position something in the appearance editor :)  So I'm using the same process for clothing logos etc. as well.

@wires, I knew I had to use a CC1 avatar, but I obviously didn't find it until you showed me exactly what I was supposed to do. I appreciate the picture!

I'm happy to say that I can put tattoos anywhere on the upper and lower body. What I haven't figured out is how to get the tattoo to be on the arm. I've tried both Traditional and PBR Basic and neither allows the decal to move to the arm.
