The light effect you are after is called volumetric light scattering. You see the ray because in the atmosphere there are some smoke or dust.
Unfortunately, iClone native renderer does not support volumetric lights at the moment.
So you'll have to cheat.
- One common workaround for this is to model a long tube for each ray you want, that will be self illuminated and textured with an opacity gradient map.
- An other way is to simulate the effect with particles. I'm not sure you can do this with iClone native particles but you can do it with PopcornFX,
there are two examples: in the "Learning Samples" there is an example called "Nightclub Laser", and in the "Library 40" there is the "Magic Orbs" effect that can work too, I think.
If none of these cheats works for you then you will have to resort to an external renderer that support volumetric light scattering (and volumetric rendering in general) such as Iray.
