I don't use X Gen but I know there are some problems with UVs when exporting to Unreal.
Here is a Python Script that you will need :   https://thekesslereffect.gumroad.com/l/AlembicUVBaker

Skinning is only possible with the same Character you have used to create your hair, as far as I know. (root polygon count).
There is a way to retarget groom from "source" to "target" for skinning but I've never tested it yet.
But you only need skinning for eyebrows , beards , animals or Characters with wrinkle maps.
The best way is still to attach the groom to the Character in an Actor BP,  so you can use it in other projects without always redoing it.

Hi everyone hope you all doing well. I am writing to see if anybody or maybe even Bass line can help me out. I don't know how to fix this issue. It’s about hair made with x gen applied to a cc3 character in unreal.

I am including a visual guide the numbers go with the images.

1)    I imported the hair to unreal as an fbx and alembic file.

2)   I used the transform tools to set up the hair on top of the character

3)   I Change the size in order to fit the head

4) I Attached the hair by appending it in the world outliner.

5)   I Realized that the hair would not have physics and wouldn’t move in play time like other groom i used before or the clothing my character was wearing.

6)   Realized that the tutorial i was watching explained a method for unreal 4.24 and that unreal 4.27 has changed the binding method

7)    Watched a Stylemarshal tutorial on 3 different attaching groom methods and understood i had to go with a component approach.

8)   Follow Stylemarshall’s method for binding

9)    Tried to follow the same process

10)    Got a log message that prevent me from advancing.

If anybody has had this same issue or can give me a hand to understand what i am doing wrong I’d be very great full.

Thank you.

Thank you.https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/6a208513-39ab-40fc-a69b-57f.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/ae7849ce-b271-49bb-bfeb-1a1.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/e08d6545-bf8f-4092-9d50-411.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/28be637a-405e-42e3-9797-a9f.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/7653c2bd-1b58-4c94-9b90-19a.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/692e5c83-07ce-4462-952d-b35.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/6a8d6275-9671-4732-b54c-ef9.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/8e1cce40-6e0e-4547-a94a-fb8.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/7eafc8f6-bb9e-4736-80fe-87d.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/e49e8c17-c37b-4414-9042-423.jpeghttps://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/06362d7b-c49b-40c9-83ad-629.jpeg

Hi Bassline,
that is very good,😊
But it doesn't help me, I don't have any Daz hair either,
I would have to buy some first, I only have the Voss Hair.
I tested enough today, but unfortunately I couldn't get it right.
Hi Toy, I wish you more luck.
I will use my groom hair from the UE Marktplace.
It’s easier for me..
Greetings Robert
I think I have the worst Daz Hair (Voss Hair)😁😁😁

Okay, it's not that easy at all.
The ending in this video isn't particularly good
My first try,
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/35d908c8-5b73-4226-b7a1-f271.png
1. Zero out your Character in UE4 and always attach in A or T-Pose (not animation pose like in the Video)  ????
2. Zero out the imported hair , decrease groom width ????
3. Delete physic capsules of the imported hair.
4. Activate and tweak physics after final attaching. Big Problem haven't done it in a long time.
5. Use my Groom Shader or MH Groom Shaders. Okay
Could you make a video of the import hair in UE, etc .. of your specified specifications 1-5😁😁
Greetings Robert

Hi Bassline,
Many Thanks,😁
I found a tutorial on this.
just have to see what I need.
Daz Converter Hair, I have already installed in Blender.
Now I still need the hair with scalp.
Now I have to have a look at the Daz shop, hopefully I won't buy the wrong one again. The nice thing about Daz Shop is that I don't need to pay VAT.😁😁😁
I will try it out soon.
Greetings Robert

Yeah , i watched it ...should work fine.
As you know I am doing it with Ornatrix ,,,so here are some tips :

1. Zero out your Character in UE4 and always attach in A or T-Pose (not animation pose like in the Video)
2. Zero out the imported hair , decrease groom width
3. Delete physic capsules of the imported hair.
4. Activate and tweak physics after final attaching.
5. Use my Groom Shader or MH Groom Shaders.

:)

I will try it out soon.

Curious about your results as it would be cool to turn DAZ hair into groom...
