Hi! We bought almost all software from Reallusion including Perception Neuron stuff. Neuron basically stopped working before we could do anything with it, so now we need a new way to record simple body animations for AR / VR characters. 1. Is there a way to use Orbbec depth camera instead of Kinect? 2. If Orbbec isn't supported, what plugins do I need for Kinect? Kinect mocap + motion live? Thanks

Let's try and concentrate on your PN since that is absolutely the best way to go. When you say "stop working" do you mean it WAS working for you originally? What "stopped"? Did you contact the PN folks (who are VERY good at support) to get whatever wasn't working with the suit working? Do you know you can capture using only the PN software (so don't use Motion Live, for example) as a much easier/more foolproof way to go. You've already paid for the best -- might as well get it to work for you (and it WILL -- mine had issues and were fixed and I'm confident yours can as well).

Well, it was a while ago, but after a first few succesfull tests, sensors started going crazy and I just couldn't get anything useful out of it, even for heavy post cleanup. I tried recalibrating sensors and updating firmware, still nothing. Joints were floating around, twisting in all directions etc. We were on a tight schedule, so I decided we should do everything by hand with a little help of iClone motion puppet tool.
I'll try it again next week, but in the meantime, if anyone can give me some info on Orbbec / Kinect mocap, it would be great!

As someone who had the Kinect setup (and even a three sensor Kinect one) I would highly recommend staying away from it. If you couldn't get a PN capture worth using, you will NEVER get a Kinect capture worth a damn. That's the problem with chasing after other solutions. Optical solutions are never any good UNLESS you throw a ton of money at them (and sometimes not even then). This, for example, will probably work well: https://mocap.reallusion.com/iclone-motion-live-mocap/qualisys.htmlbut it will make the cost of your PN suit look like chump change (and most likely require a minimum of four cameras to do anything decent). TANSTAAFL, and, as I said, you already have the best. Get it working properly and you'll be happy.

Hi... To answer your original question Orbbec isn't currently supported. The Plug-in for the Kinect is still available and you can find it using the link below. Note this doesn't work with the Motion LIVE system and is a standalone plug-in. However, as KT advised you will get far better results with Perception Neuron so I would try to get the issues resolved there first. https://www.reallusion.com/iclone/mocap/
