I'm brand new to CTA Pro, and I'd like to create characters that look like emojis, especially the basic ones on Facebook: laugh, cry, angry, etc. I don't mind doing this by customizing characters, either built-in or extra packs. I am able to do some editing in Gimp as well, and can follow the template rules if they're clear. Here are my questions:

1. Can I create one character that can then be facially animated to portray the different emotions, or would I need to create separate characters for each?

2. If I need to show characters from behind, I must do them as G2, is that right? I've read docs and watched tutorials until my eyes are crossed, and I can't fully understand exactly what I gain/lose from G2/G3. That said, if G3 is worth it for general animation purposes, but can only do front and side, I can live with it. I would create behind shots with stills and use a video editor to make the scene make sense.

3. As I conceive the emoji characters, they have a big head and no real torso. But the arms and legs must work. Is there a template that would work for this, or a decent workaround? As I say, if I need to buy a character with the right bones and whatnot, then modify it for my needs, that's fine. I just don't want to waste my time & money going down a dead end.

Thanks for any good advice!

Thanks! Can you give me a few sentences to explain how you did this?

just draw your heads in flash or photoshop. add the head to the character and either hide the bodies or switch the body sprites to empty sprites.
