I’m attempting to export a DAZ3D model to CC3.  I’m using Michael 4 with “The Freak 4” body and head.  The body transfers somewhat OK, but the head morphs will not.  I’m using DAZ Studio 4.11 Beta, and the CC3  “Michael4T_pose.duf”.  I think I have all the FBX export boxes checked correctly. However, numerous morphs under the Staging assets to be exported in the DAZ FBX Export Options are listed as “Not Used”.

Can this be done?  If so, what am I doing wrong?

I could probably help you but I can't even get my Freak 4 to display ANY head shapes in Daz -- only body stuff.

Most likely because it's VERY old and the installation of the Poser (which it was) into Daz doesn't work properly anymore.  Anyway, the more modern stuff works fine but because I can't duplicate your setup I can't really comment.

KT as you know, Michael 4 has at least dozens and dozens of morphs.  Can you try any head change to see if it transfers OK?   Here is where I found The Freak’s head morph. Thanks much.

I know what you are saying, Jimmy, but none of the head morphs are showing up for me.

It's a bit difficult -- as I said, all of my M4/F4 is from the Poser days, and so the installation into modern Daz is done manually.  I have to copy the stuff into the Poser content folders, and then run the generate morph access .exe.  This I do, and the body morphs are showing up just fine, but nothing on the head at all.  I've even looked at the Daz forums and the only help there was from folks who could get the head morphs working but NOT the body (and using their advice in reverse didn't get me any further).

I'll look a bit more but I think I'm pretty well going to be of no help (if you were using the Freak 5 or later I might be a lot more helpful, as that was when I bought it from Daz, but, as I said, all of this early stuff was gotten from Poser and isn't installing well for me now).

Okay, *finally* got the morphs in the right directory (sigh -- it's a real PITA to do this by hand).

Everything seems to work exactly as any other character, so I'm not sure what problem you're having.  If you want to send me the FBX I can look at it, but here's what I got (this looks EXACTLY how it does in Daz):

Edit: Oops, sorry, saw your settings in the image above (just got back from tennis and my body AND brain are both tired).  Okay, here are the two sliders set for how you've set them (I don't know what your body settings are, but the Freak's body comes in perfectly as long as you use the Advanced texture adds).  And, again, this looks exactly the same as it does in Daz:

Okay, overnight I was thinking some more on this.  Here's the checklist:

1) Make sure you export from Daz with all morphs baked, and with NO textures embedded.
2) Do you have CC3 3.01 installed?  You'll know if when you try Transformer you get the "Advanced - Basic" choice menu.
3) On that menu, choose Advanced.
4) When the avatar menu comes up, checkmark "Bake Mesh"
5) Choose "Michael 4" (obviously but let's be clear -- your choices are V4 and M4 and if you DON'T see these choices in a popup box then you are doing something wrong).

That should bring in the avatar correctly with the right textures and the head morphs.  I don't know how it can't, but if you're still having problems you can try sending me your FBX and I'll take a look at it.

OK KT, I got it to work thanks to you young man. It’s great when a young whippersnapper can teach an old dog new tricks. What I was doing wrong was using the old Reallusion guidance for DAZ exports.  The “head.” rule was set to ignore.  I’ve been using this setting forever.  Simply removing the dot and changing ignore to bake, fixed the problem.  Your efforts to help me with this nagging issue are truly appreciated.  You are the man, young man that is.  Bless you. Thanks again.  Hope this helps someone else too.

LOL -- well, I'm glad you got it working, but if I'm younger than anyone on this board it would be a miracle <g>.

I'll try and remember that head period thing next time -- I had completely forgotten about that (but you're right, that used to be the recommended procedure through XChange).
