Hi guys,

Our project got stuck and we would greatly appreciate some help here :

We use to be able to design a character in CC2 and send it to Unreal where we were able to animate and use the character. We no longer can do this under CC3, what might we be missing ?
CC3 clearly states : "Third-Person Interactive Control: the bone structure and naming of CC3 characters are fully compatible with the Unreal UE4 rig and Unity Mecanim avatar."
Yet, when we try to use the FBX exporter, either with the Unreal preset or by trying to modify them, we never manage to have our characters usable in UE4, usually we get a bone merge error.

We have tried with characters that were working from CC2 to UE4, and with imported Daz characters, but to no avail. We have found no way to make it work from CC3.

Anyone else has trouble with this ?

We would greatly appreciate some help !

EDIT : We've discovered that we can't export any character anywhere from CC3, even to iClone 7 ... Even with the generic character in CC3, or the naked plain base. No export works. Any tips ?

Best,

Kareeem

If you cant even sent to iclone make sure youre iclone is updated to 7.3.

I managed to export a character to UE4 quite easily following this tutorial ( you can skip the first half, cause its for scenes ): https://youtu.be/ENdY_lT_BPQ?t=638
There is also this one for further third person control of animations etc.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wtADMIogRw&t=586s

For some reason, we've discovered that we can't export characters to any former UE4 project (all are post 4.18) but it works if we export to any new project (post CC3 installation). Very, very weird.

A tutorial on CC3 to UE4 to smooth the pipe would be much appreciated.
