I'm assuming this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the answer. I'm trying to export a prop model from my Daz Studio content as an OBJ for import into CC3. I can only seem to get the diffuse map into the maps folder, so the prop looks very "flat" looking without the normals, roughness, etc. maps to go with it. Any tips on the export OBJ settings in Daz to get all of those other maps put into the export folder? Thanks!

I have a very hard time finding answers on the Daz forums. That thread doesn't seem to have a solution for me either, although I appreciate the link.
I keep trying to export as OBJ using different variations of the "write surfaces" options just before export, but I still can't seem to get more than the diffuse texture to be exported.

I suppose a related question I have is why we can't import props as FBX files. If I export the prop from Daz Studio as an FBX, when I try to import it into CC3 (by creating an accessory), the application seems to think I am trying to import a human figure. (It asks for an "fbxkey" file, which I don't have, so I have to cancel out the import.)

These videos clearly show how to import FBX from daz into CC3and the link I gave you to Exporting Daz object with all textures does answer your post - you can't ( if you read the post )https://www.reallusion.com/character-creator/daz-character.htmlthe second video shows the process - Daz character with hair and clothes and morphs using FBX good luck There are also great tutorials on Reallusion site and also their youtube channel

With all due respect, as I stated in the OP, I'm trying to import a prop (a sword in this case) that is separate from a character model. I'm not trying to import a character model with attached clothing or hair. If I export that sword model as an FBX from Daz, Character Creator thinks it's a character model and asks for other things like an .fbxkey (which isn't generated when I export the model, that I can tell).
Your Daz forum link talks about MTLs, which I actually do get an MTL file when I export as an OBJ. CC3 doesn't seem to understand MTL files--or if it does, I'm not sure how to load them.

OH well...... I have not tried this but can't you save the individual components ( IE: a sword, hair, or clothing as props or export them somehow? I'll have to look into this myself i guess because i was under the impression you can? anyway, whatever, and good luck

That is exactly what I'm trying to do and why I posted about the issues I'm seeing trying to import the OBJ file of the sword prop into CC3. I suspect the lack of textures is an issue with Daz Studio's export functionality--either because it's confusing or just a mess. I think the FBX import issue I posted here (where I need to provide some .fbxkey that I don't ever see when I do an FBX export from another program) is a CC3 problem.

About the question "why we can't import props as FBX files":
To import a single prop, 3DXchange would be the better way to go, I assume -- CC3 is meant for characters, which may have attached props. So it could probably be used to import a single prop, but AFAIK only if piggy-backed to a Genesis figure.
If you have a supported Genesis figure in DAZ Studio, you need to apply the respective .duf file from the CC3 Resources directory (as stated in the relevant tutorials). Then you can import the FBX without being asked for an fbxkey file. And then you should be able to convert the attached prop into a separate accessory.
FWIW: At least my copy of CC3 does not even support importing .obj files...

Thanks for the insight. I don't have iClone currently, although I am considering it, once the Iray plugin works there as well. I did buy CC3 pipeline at least, which I guess is why I can import .obj files into it, I think.
I'm going to try a potential workaround with FBX export from DS, once I get home from the office. We'll see if it pans out.
