Re-animating photographs and any person in a full profile looks awful. I have tried to experiment with the "blue dots" on the mask to create something of a blinking eye and talking mouth in profile, but nothing looks great. 

You should be able to get excellent results with morph based heads. Can you share a screenshot or video clip showing the problems you are having.
