I'd recommend you head on over to
the Learning Centre. Work through some of the introductory videos to get a feel for how things are done in CTA3. You don't have to watch everything, but get a basic grounding first. Then you can pick and choose some of the other areas.
There's also
the online manual. Although it seems to be aimed squarely at the Pipeline version, I think it does generally point out those sections which are Pipeline only (and some which are Pro and Pipeline only), so that may be an alternative to watching videos for you.
If you have come from another animation background, I'd expect you'll find a lot of similar functionality, but accessed and controlled in a decidedly CTA way. In other words, don't expect to run before you learn to walk.
Once you've done that, come back here and ask specific questions and hopefully you'll get useful answers from the community. Hope this helps…
