I got this ad from Daz today featuring their new 'Billboard Extras". Now, we can build a similar product in IC and I used a dozen of my
IC-made billboard extras in my latest vid. (yet to be released). As a billboard costs you 0 polys, it a great way to build large crowds
behind your main action. There are two differences between IC billboards and the Daz ones.

These Daz Billboards can rotate and show you different views of the same character so that they 'appear' to be 3d from any angle.
That is a great asset for the illustrator.(and a clever idea that one of our developers could maybe make a few bucks on)
They look like this.

but rotate with the camera and change their view for different camera angles as in this overhead view.

They have a good range of townfolk doing townfolk things:


As you can see it's a pretty helpful product. (For an illustrator)

Now, as for IC Billboard people. The good news is that although the daz product is specifically made for the townspeople provided,
IC billboards can not only hold the image of any character or object you choose, they can also be animated. So they can 'pretend' walk,
talk, lift a tankard etc. The downside is that you have only one angle they can be displayed from. You CAN make your IC billboard character
appear 3d by matching your camera movements when you 'shoot' your billboard character, so it can be done but takes a fair amount of planning. 

I thought the designers who have made crowd people might be interested in this.

Awesome idea

Hi Pete,
What you did there is quite expensive (I think) but looks good.
I've made it easier for me
- avatars without background
- Movements added
- output as POP video
- then inserted as a tarp or billboard
Here is the result:
