I realise this post was quite a while ago but was wondering; when you transfer the installation of Iclone over to the new ssd how do you handle the app data that installs on the C? My install is still running sluggish but when I check the resource monitor only the c drive is max'd out because of accessing iray files in app data. Do I have to change directory settings in the registry?

Dave, I haven't been on here in a few weeks because everything has been working for me pretty well. Your processor is the next step above mine, and my motherboard is made from Asus's little brother. I first started using iC3 with the AMD family and I had the same problems with both. I finally switched to Intel for the first time in years, because I found the more RAM on the  motherboard I could pan and rotate through my densely populated scenes and AMD came to a 32 GB, 4 slot memory limit until last year so I switched October of 2016 to a 8 memory limit. I been building computers and probably built the first laptop in the early 70's. I don't have any SSD drives, and I have a fear of them like I did hard drives when they first came out, like $600 for 40MB's. Being a retired electronic engineer, and digital has always been my favorite things, I know what can go wrong with both. My system works fine, and my biggest beef with Reallusion was that they changed the mp4 encoder to a poor one and I had to use sequential files to get the same quality. I was first using my Radeon R-290X, with my Intel board, but last August I bought the GTX-1070 both with 8GB. Now when I render to mp4's using this card and hardware acceleration on, and all the other except the shadows at maximum settings, these mp4 encodings look great again. There are probably a lot of views because people are having the same problem as you and don't want to say anything to Reallusion, they just are hoping for a solution. Fast as they may respond, I usually ended fixing my own problems. One of the main things and it's not having a SSD drive. You need to have a large virtual memory section on your hard drives regardless of your RAM size solved my first problems using iClone. My Iclone is not on my main or boot drive, because that's the first drive that usually goes bad. I back up my iClone drive with a portable external drive, you do not want to lose weeks and months of the work you did. I keep my rendered output, and ISO files on another drive because these file will take up the most space, and I back those up. With you 32 GB of RAM, you should not have panning problems with small projects. Increase your virtual memory on your hard drives other than the boot drive (C), because that is always changing if you use the internet with it. I can't see having lees than 3 separate drives or 2 drives without 2 separate partitions. Keep the largest virtual memory on a drive that is not your boot drive. I do not use any virtual memory on my boot drive. I hope this works for you as me. Now I just have problems with missing trees and the timeline not working right, other than that this is the first time since I had iC3, I'm pretty satisfied. And these problems with the timeline etc., are RL software problems not my system. I have scenes where 7.1 GB of my 8 GB video card memory is used. I'm doing fine without a SSD drive or a 1080 card. I would love to have one with 16 GB, but I'm not paying $1300 for one of those, the $999 are out of stock.

Home built; ASRock X570 Pro 4, AMD Ryzen 9-5950X CPU, AMD RADEON RX6900XT, 16GB video card, 131GB of RAM.

I must admit i have no idea what your issue could be, if you are up to it there is one more test you can do, unplug any unnecessary usb devices and check if performance improves, why usb devices? Well i have very weird issue with my usb wifi and iclone, for some reason when i load iclone my connection becomes super laggy and goes back to normal when i close iclone, maybe you have a similar issue. Also how is your performance with character creator? Is it the same as iclone?

Tony is right, what you are experiencing is not normal, what is the cpu/gpu usage with the default project with zane loaded? on my gtx 980 it is between 20 30% while idle.

Thanks for the reply - With Zane loaded : GPU-z shows 1899MB used and <10% Load
                                                                   Task manager shows: 6% or 1.8GB of 8GB available ( GTX1080 )
Task manager shows: 1.5% CPU ( Load) utilization  and 4.7GB Ram use of 32GB available
(my system: i7-6850K, Asus X99 Deluxe 2 MB, 32GB Corsair Vengeance, GTX1080 GPU, IClone runs on a Samsung EVO 500GB Sata SSD.)
The system performs all my other 3D applications without as much as a hiccup...........
I'll learn how to do a screen recording to demo this behavior...

A single character lagging every 1-3 seconds on viewport is not what the rest of us are experiencing.
Videotape it on from a phone or tablet and post video, that would let everyone see in real motion time what you experience.
Seeing it would help a lot.

Then, Dave, install iClone to your other drive, the one where all your other programs run with no problems.

I mean it -- you need to isolate the differences, and that's clearly a difference.  I don't want to speculate on why it won't run well off an SSD versus a mechanical drive, but one possibility might be swap space.  But don't chase your tail -- first reinstall, make sure it's where ALL those other programs are, and then see if anything changes.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////
Actually My Mistake: ALL my 3D programs are installed on my C: drive ( the Samsung ssd ) and they all perform flawlessly. Except IClone
No great loss for me other than I feel Disappointed I spent $400+ for a program I'll likely not get much use out of - I bought it for the Daz3d Character workflow only to discover it's not nearly as smooth as the Promo video's make it out to be - I use motionbuilder as I have discovered it is actually easier for me to characterize them with that program as I have created a template for G1 G2 G3 and G8 characters so they get rigged with the push of a button! - and it has very powerful FBX/BVH animation tools and it works seamlessly with 3DS Max. I'll likely pass IClone on to my 15 yr old granddaughter - she likes the " Drag and Drop animation"...
I am going to install it on my Game/media system just as a check to see if it runs as I would expect it to ( I7-7700k, 16GB Ram, GTX1070 ) and a 500GB Samsung NVME SSD.... when I find time...   ~Dave

Thanks for the reply's
Yes, IClone is installed on the default C Drive with all defaults. There are no other problems related to that SSD. It is a year Old Samsung EVO 500GB - Win10 runs and performs very quick and snappy on that drive.
I am using as reference The IClone Character "Zane" nothing else in the scene. It displays it is utilizing 1.5 GB VRam. ALL light Effects are off.
No IBL/HDRI, No Effects, No Shadows, No AO, No Physics -  No anything that you might think would cause the Screen Lag. When I find time I am going to install it on my other Game/Media system ( Specs noted in another post ) just to check it out. It stumps me because every other program I have ( 3DSMax, Adobe, Keyshot, all them that have a similar viewport perform without any flaw - like butter.
If I knew how to do screen recording I would and send that to IClone/post it here. ( Perhaps I should learn how to do this )
Also all the NVidia 3D settings ( NV Control Dialog ) are set correctly for this program - actually all are set to defaults - so no added overhead there. The system is set in Performance ( Power settings )
Thanks for the replies.

There are a lot of assumptions being made with regard to what scene you are creating, and under what conditions you are operating under.
Is it optimum?
Because one avatar with high resolution hair all by itself can sink iClone into a sputter.
Also, do you have any other applications open, etc...

You have to Benchmark it yourself vs an actual step-by-step comparison, and see where the breakdown lies.
I recommend this:

(1) Open up a blank scene and
(2) follow one of the online tutorials put up by RL for iClone 7, EXACTLY, and
(3) see/mark where the speed behaviour difference begins to occur, and note if the RL tutorial also had this speed issue.

Take that and send to RL support, or show to the forum.
Either way, make it as detailed and specific as possible.

(ie - at 0:45 in the tutorial, the instructor navigates his UI without any loss in speed, but on my UI, I see (x) behaviour.)

Good Luck!
