I successfully managed to import a Genesis 3 character exported from Daz3d, using 3dxchange trial.  If I animate the character in Daz and export the animation along with the character, the imported animation does not show correctly in 3dxchange when I preview it.  I'm guessing this is because Genesis 3 (and 8) have extra bones iClone characters don't have, so 3dxchange doesn't know what to do with them.  Is there anything I can do to "fix" this so I can export my animations from Daz?

Note: I'm trying to establish a viable tool chain for 3d assets, so I'm trying every program ever written for this purpose!

Is it telling you the animation is converted when you convert the character? It should automatically characterize any motions that imported with the FBX file from daz when you do the characterization process.

You might also try exporting just animation from DAZ as BVH. Then characterize that.

The facial bones in G3 and G8 won't have an effect the body motion.

Ah, I exported the timeline as .bvh and imported the t-pose character, characterised it (non-standard) and then imported the .bvh and it seems to work.  I added the extra bones (for toes and so on) and it ran the animation correctly.  So it's all good.  Not too sure what I was doing wrong before!  Thanks anyway.
