Maybe I'm just too stupid, but this is the WORST program I've ever tried to learn.  Seemingly simple things are weirdly hard to do, and the tutorials are hopelessly inadequate.  The latest mammoth task I'm attempting is to change the colour of the characters clothes - something I would have though most users would want to do to give some individuality to their project.
I (eventually) found these instructions:

- go to composer

- click on area tochange

- go to mask editor(on left hand side)

- click 'select bycolor' (magic wand symbol)

- click colour boxto change color

I followed these, used the dropper to change the shirt of my character to a blue colour, but there's no 'save' button or anything to suggest it's changed (!)  and when I click the x to close the window (well, what else is there to do???) the character's shirt then shows NO COLOUR AT ALL - IT'S TRANSPARENT!

ARGHHHHHH!

Does anyone know an easy way to do this, or where I might find USEFUL instructions on how to achieve it?

Depends upon the type of character: G1, G2, or G3.
For G3 characters:

For G2 Characters either create render style groups and adjust the group colors or
If the character already has RS (Render Style) groups then adjust each groups color by:
1) The character editor or
2) Use EZColors (available in the content market place).

Using EZColors:

For G1 characters you would need to do sprite replacement to change the colors.

The Mask Editor is use to cut or separate an actors arms, legs & head (etc) for cut out animation.
