Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could provide some info concerning the clean up process of motions made with the PN suit. I saw some jitter removal videos for motions captured using Ipi Soft, and the results were amazing. That got me thinking: I haven't seen virtually anywhere a video showcasing the jitter removal tools of Axis Neuron software. Can anyone share links / videos / personal experience? I would be really interested in seeing the clean up mode in action. Thanks!!

I haven't seen any jitter in the neuron suit. The motion is nice and smooth. The biggest issue with the neuron suit is drifting or one of the neurons causes a body part to move around weirdly. The arms or legs will drift over time and sometimes twist on you. I usually re-calibrate often to help with this sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. The fingers are an issue at times too. The fingers will work great then one or two fingers will be totally contorted. That drifting can also cause foot sliding over time. The cleanup is more done via key framing. There isn't the jitter that you see in the Kinect systems with the PN suit suit. Nice smooth motion, but sometimes you'll get weird results if you don't calibrate properly.

Hi Lamias, I made an old Tutorial/thread for the Neuron plugin : https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost294779.aspxThe very important thing is : First all you feet contact have to be accurate , you can fix it with the Axis pro software. This resolve all the hip shift you may can have during the capture. Two , there is a good smooth tool too.(Smooth factor window) Play with the value to see the difference. I have today very good result. Have a look of this very interesting ILM show. At the beginning of the video , the capture show a sort of stop motion capture . We have the exactly the same result with Neuron. Lot of mocap data have to be repolish.

Often the fingers go out of alignment because of the hands interaction with the mouse and the electro-magnetic field around it.

What I've had to do with both Brekel and Neuron is to output to bvh, drop it into Poser and use that program's robust curve editor to tweak the mocap. It works but it takes so much time, I have difficulty justifying using my own self created mocap sometimes. I often look for ways to edit around the motion in Premiere.
That said, like the poster above mentioned, I've also had freaky limb movements and unstable calibrations with Neuron. Unfortunately it has never worked properly for me and doesn't seem worth the time, stress and energy expense.
When (if) I get another 5k, I may try Xsens, but it's hard to know which expensive mocap system will actually work anymore. I've been burned a little on my Neuron experience.
IPI is great and does really smooth out the motion.

Check out this thread... iKinema's WebAnimate is an affordable and 'magic' mocap refining tool. https://forum.reallusion.com/335790/MoCap-refining-Neuron-Kinect-IPI-Brekel-etc

Yeah, pretty much going to agree and say once you exhaust the tools in Axis Neuron software then it is best to turn to MotionBuilder or Maya or really anything with a curve editor and use curve filtering and just manual cleanup. There is also iKinema WebAnimate which is affordable and has great tools for working with mocap data. Thanks for posting that ILM video as I was going to post it into the Faceware discussion as an example of what people can somewhat expect. The camera on the helmet is the same one Faceware calls their ProHD camera and then they are using luminous makeup and makers to assist as well as video training data (FACS poses with interpolation) and even then you can see the lip-sync is a little mushy in realtime. But watching it I have gotten very similar results with Faceware Live and a little helper makeup (lipstick) or eyebrow makeup for people with really light colored eyebrows. Once 7.1 comes out I think a lot of basic clean up work could be done in iClone and some enterprising coders could write some nice solvers to sell in the store to help automate some of the cleanup.

It turn out that recording in Axis Neuron is much cleaner then recording in iclone. So i record all my stuff in Axis Neuron and then bring it with 3DXChange to iclone, it is much better. And then i clean the stuff with iClone Curve Editor. But its still much work. Hope Reallusion is working on something that IKinema-WebAnimate already have.
