Tutor, where'd you get the draw pistol motion? That's pretty cool. Is it part of the UN Task force set? Reallusion single Motion See my Screenshot for Templar Sword Accessory & Samurai Motions. I did a demo sword fight clip for a Forum Member some time-ago, using same sword & Motions.. Clip is on my Vimeo A/C.

I wouldn't attach the object at all (and certainly not in CC). I'd use link, because you can pass the link (animate it). So you start off with the object linked to the hip, for example, and then link it to the hand as it grasps the object and draws it. Mixamo has the motions you need -- I have everything RL has ever sold (I think) including the UN stuff and I can't find the drawing motion he was talking about (then again, I was searching for "Draw" -- I got some cartoon gun draws and one behind the back but nothing that one).

Thank you for all the comments & ideas.
Apologies for not being more specific. I was just looking for general ideas on how to perform a motion of pulling a weapon. Wasn't sure what I needed per se. I'm learning the terminology of the app pretty fast but still learning.
I guess the big one is the idea of drawing say...a sword. You've got the prop attached through Character Creator. How do you make that weapon interactive when it's in Iclone? (Just as an example).
Akaya comes with some cool weapons that are both sheathed and loose. I'm not sure how to use them both. One thought I had involved hiding an item in the hand, having the character go for it and having the item disappear from the sheath as they draw it?
Tutor, where'd you get the draw pistol motion? That's pretty cool. Is it part of the UN Task force set?
Thanks!

There's a Reallusion drawing a pistol from a holster Motion. I have it. You could edit Character Motion Layer, to adapt to drawing a sword..

Swoop has been back for a LONG time under that alias (of course, Swoop wasn't his real name either). I've commented on it quite a bit because, frankly, it's easier to remember and type Swoop than whatever the heck it is now. But, unlike most of the time when he gives a generic answer about moving vertecies and optimizing mesh, in this case he seems to have actually provided somewhat useful info :D Thanks Sw000p...er...I mean but0fc0ursee.

I did try this with Mixamo when the poster first posted, and got something fairly close in a few minutes -- was too bored to try and get it any better but that would be my suggestion as well (there is a drawing sword motion that really only has the character reach down to grasp it and not actually draw it, but if you combine this with the sword across the body motion it works well). Swoop has been back for a LONG time under that alias (of course, Swoop wasn't his real name either). I've commented on it quite a bit because, frankly, it's easier to remember and type Swoop than whatever the heck it is now.

My Sw00p spider senses are in full overload!!! Glad to have u back! Errr I mean, glad to meet you.... totally different person not named sw00p. To the OP, great advice from the posters above. I'm lazy... so how I'd do it (the EZ way), I'd scour the Mixamo free motions, import the ones you think will fit (they have weapons motions). Then in iClone, apply the motion and right click it on the timeline. Use the modify tool to adjust and retarget to your character (will probably need to adjust the elbows, posture, etc.). You can probably get it close to what you want. When the time comes to grab the weapon use the techniques mentioned above and attach the weapon to the hand. Key frame the areas that need cleanup. That's the lazy, just get by way. Which may or may not work for your video.

darkrepast (7/23/2017) ...pulling a sword from a sheath or taking a gun from a holster. Anyone have any ideas?Pose Block Anticipate Follow Through Frame 0: Pose - Idle Frame 10: Block - (Full Body reach for weapon) Frame 16: Anticipate - (Freeze Arm & Hand "While Rotating the Spine and Head)...slightly Frame 22: Follow Through - (Draw the weapon "In a Arc Motion)... not linear - <not Straight> Still on frame 22: Rotate the Spine & Head to finish the "Arc Motion" (Secondary Animation) Tangents: Pose to Block: Ease-In, Ease-Out Block to Anticipate: Linear Anticipate to Follow Through: Linear to Ease-In ____________________________________________________________________________ Set the weapons local pivot to the middle of its handle. (this is where the hand should be). Link a null object (sphere to the hand bone's pivot).... use the dialog box to select it.Link the weapon to the null object. "Animate the hand."... the weapon follows. Note: Adjust frame 10 - 16 -22 to advance or retard the motion.

Lord Ashes made an excellent comment. +1
I suspect *ONE* way of doing it would be to: - Attach a dummy part to the handle of the weapon - Use that dummy as a "reach target" for the hand, so the hand will follow the weapon - Animate the movement of the weapon for the "draw" motion - Clean up any odd elbow/shoulder motions
Or... - Show hand reaching toward the weapon - Change angle, such as behind the character, mostly over the shoulder - Maybe show some "shoulder/arm motion" visible in the frame - Add a good sound effect, especially of drawing a sword (every movie loves that metallic sword-drawing "schwing" sound) --- At this point, the actual action can be very crude... the weapon can go through the sheath or holster, hand grip can be imprecise... nobody will know - Change camera angle again - Everyone will know what happened, and will see it in their mind's eye, and you have saved yourself 5 hours of painstakingly detailed animation.
