My current understanding is that while DAZ characters can be imported as Nonstandard characters in iClone, there is no way to convert them into CC characters with clothing layers. So they cannot really "wear" clothes the same way native iClone characters can do.
For this reason, to clothe them one must put the clothes onto the character in DAZ and export the dressed character. Exporting the clothing separately from DAZ would do no good.
Here is a guy I exported, wearing a chest-plate with leather straps. In DAZ and 3DXchange, there is no poke-through, but of course as soon as he's loaded into iClone, his chest pokes through the leather shield near his underarm on his left, and the straps over his right chest disappear into his body.
Does the new iClone have any better method for curing this than fooling with the opacity map? On straps like these, it would be difficult to get the opacity map right, and then even if I did, when he moved to a different position, the hole in his skin would probably be exposed.
What options do I have for dealing with this, other hand discarding this item of clothing?

I don't have iClone7 yet, but there is a new morph slider creation feature. I suppose you could round-trip your character+clothing to your modeler of choice, to fix the inevitable pokethrough.

I have foreseen this recurring animator headache from a year ago. Here's my proposal for iClone6 for pokethrough management/ an internal MOVE/ SCULPT BRUSH and MORPH SLIDERS  https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic284674.aspx

Glad to see Reallusion has listened and added the Morph Sliders under Modify panel. They have since added a Sculpting tool to Character Creator. Next they will probably add that Sculpting tool to iClone and solve this major animator headache? Maybe? Perhaps? IT WOULD BE AWESOME! ;) :D

I use ZBrush to create a morph slider to  push, pull, or smooth out the clothes as necessary. Works great, easy to do, and makes fixing mashed or wrinkled clothes a snap.

I would check in DAZ in the weightpaint modus,  the chest  bone influence for this belt .
In your case, I think.  the influence on this belt still  is not enough.
Maybe you can it fix without extra morphs , only with weight paint  on the Belt
For that .  select Left Chest Bone  and paint (add influence) red Color on the belt mesh, maybe a little bit smooth paint,   too

red areas means the mesh to follow the bone and blue no influence,
With a  color gradient how strong or smooth will bend the bone the mesh

it uses the smoothing modifier in DAZ studio
Many PA's get a bit sloppy with their weighpainting because of the handy existence of this tool
Hence fixing it as Vidi suggested probably needed or alternatively convert it to a prop in DAZ studio then use the transfer utility under edit figure to fit it to the base figure, it may stretch and distort a bit with morphs but should follow the figure.

I think not, because it is already binded  to the bones , it need only a little bit tweeking in the chest  weightmap

I believe I understand, Vidi. You are saying that while I'm still in DAZ Studio with the dressed character, I should go into the clothing's weight painting mode and add influence before exporting to FBX.
I will try it! Thanks!

Sounds like a lot of work to modify DAZ clothing that only needs to be adjusted in specific cases in iClone.
The morphs can be applied as needed and controlled in the timeline.

Sounds like a lot of work to modify

Not more than create a morph and it will be a permanent fix
