Dear Reallusion Developers,

We’d like to thank you for your long-time contributions in building up the Reallusion Marketplace to what it is today, and expanding the variety of content available for Reallusion users. We would like to bring you some important information regarding content sales and development.
  1. [Content Sales] Reallusion Marketplace is a complete C2C platform. In addition to the current store management functions, we would like to clarify our promotional plans for users and help promote relevant content in Theme Sales to help our developers.
  2. [Visual Quality] iClone 7 and CC 2 introduce an era of high quality visual standards along with larger images.  As a result, we need to update our web design to better support ideal display quality for developer content. We believe that great visual quality is key to successful sales, therefore we’ve started the process of renewing the Content Store and Marketplace.
  3. [Content Development] Providing good resources can help developers understand the creation pipeline efficiently and develop high quality content. We’ve launched a Developer Wiki to enhance the knowledge sharing speed and effectiveness.
The details are elaborated below. If you have further questions, feel free to leave a comment in the forum, or contact us at developer@reallusion.com.

Store Renew

We’d like to thank all of our valued developers for their help and cooperation in completing the content updates, a few of which you may have seen recently in the Content Store.  Our team is working continually to implement the overall design and function updates that include a new front page, product portal page for the first run, along with the purchase page, product page, and thumbnails to enhance the layout and improve purchase experiences. For developers, the new product page allows for a nice wide banner, HD images, as well as links to YouTube and Sketchfab.

What’s next…
  • Content Uploader (June 21st): support for uploading 240*305 or 512*650 images for content thumbnails, and uploading 1920*1080 for content page headers and preview images.
Click HERE to download the latest Content Uploader.
  • Marketplace Backend (End of June --> July 19th): aside from the larger images described above, developers can now add multiple Youtube and Sketchfab links.
  • Marketplace Frontend (End of June --> July 4th): the product page will be updated with the same layout as the Content Store’s.
  • Content Store (Sept 13th):  Featured Developer's portal page and tag system
  • Marketplace Frontend (TBC): Look and feel of home and portal

Marketing Calendar (2017 Q3)

We’d like to work more closely with our developers in the future, and we’d like you to stay tuned to updates to our store campaign. Starting from Q3, we will run theme sales both in the Content Store and in the Marketplace at the same time (edited on Aug 25th, 2017). A given theme will be announced 2 months prior in the Forum and via Email. You will be also invited personally into the event. We will certify all participating content and only qualified content will be selected.

Developer Wiki Build-up

Complete and accurate information of developer resources is important for content development. We found that the current resources can’t be updated as efficiently, so we decided to start up a Developer Wiki. We have started from CC, and the resources for other product lines will be updated soon.

We will open the collaborative writing and comments in near future, so that developers can share knowledge or report issues efficiently. Know More >>

Incubation Program Launch

To meet the content demands of a fast growing industry, beginning in 2017 Reallusion has allocated financial and marketing resources to assist talented 2D and 3D artists who are looking for an opportunity to start their own business. Know More >>

Warm Regards,
Reallusion Team

Quick update for the Marketplace renew status:
  • Marketplace Frontend (July 4th): the product page will be updated with the same layout as the Content Store’s.
    It's online now. (example)
    https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/d69017bd-e408-4a26-9404-501d.png

  • Marketplace Backend (July 19th): aside from the larger images, developers can now add multiple Youtube and Sketchfab links.
By the time backend is updated, the Youtube and Sketchfab links will be displayed on the same area of preview images.
As for thumbnail image size, the standard will be 512x650 from July W2, 2017
Thumbnail size history and its corresponding meaning:
  • 110x140: The size of thumbnail display area in Marketplace, which shall be updated to the same display size as Content Store in the future
  • 240x305: The size of thumbnail display area in Content Store
  • 512x650: For the better visual quality on high resolution definition monitors such as QHD, Retina Display, all developers have to create thumbnails based on this size.
  • 550x700: Old definition during transition, which will no longer exist when Marketplace Backend updates in the week 2 of July.
*Since the aspect ratio is similar, developers don't have to replace the uploaded 550x700 thumbnail by 512x650 one.

Another update is online today:
In the past, Marketplace will indicate "all" base content related to this product to remind users to buy full to work properly.
However, if the base content is included in this pack, users might get confused what else they need to buy.

Old version:

New versionif the base content is included in this pack, there is no need to list it as base content again (example)

There are some delays on the Marketplace backend update.
To not impact your content publishing, I would like to highlight that 1920*1080 preview image and header is acceptable now even it's not written as it is on the interface.

The acceptable image resolution:
Current
thumbnail: 512*650
preview/header: no limitation

2017 / 7 / 19
thumbnail: 512*650
preview/header: 1920*1080

Marketplace Backend was updated today with the following changes:
  • Thumbnail image size is limited to 512*650 (the change took effect on July 14th)
  • Page header image size is limited to 1920*1080
  • Preview image size is limited to 1920*1080 with maximum 30 images uploaded
  • Support inserting multiple YouTube links
  • Support inserting multiple Sketchfab links

Upcoming updates in the following weeks:
  • Support selecting more than one category for the pack which content can be applied to multiple products, such as iClone and Character.
  • Developers can set up iClone iContent price even there is a content with Export-only price, e.g. CC Morph Slider.
For example, in the previous version, if developer includes for a morph slider with a clothed character pack, developer can only set up Export price, which makes the pack is too expensive to iClone users.

Hi Developers,

We just updated the Commercialization Guide in Developer Center.
There is no rule change, but with the reference examples up to date.
We hope this may inspire you in commercialization and attract more customers to take action (purchase) Tongue

This is the latest update in Reallusion Wiki:
