I know with mixed reality coming into the scene and personally working on Hololens and other types of development this is a bit concern. Just want to know if it's possible anyway?
Thanks.

There are no decimation tools, but you can remove hidden polys when you export the models to FBX.

If I am understanding your question If you are a 3D modeller you can make your own characters with whatever poly count you want and bring them into iclone for animation through 3DXchange.
My view of CC is a tool that enables non modellers to be able to create their own character shapes using morph sliders, add whatever clothes they want to any character they make and have those clothes automatically conform to fit the character. For all of that to happen the characters must be a specific mesh structure otherwise none of those things will work anymore. It is also a tool that allows modellers to create new morphing shapes and new clothing that can be used by anyone to create all kinds of characters using those items. However for it to be used in CC it must conform to the meshing rules of CC and therefore you cannot increase or reduce the characters poly count. There are other rules that apply also.
So if you want to create charactes with those modifications it must be done through 3DXchange and those characters can be used in iclone but they cannot be used in CC

Hi, If you want to reduce the poly count of an Iclone or CC2 character with animations just now you would need to export to fbx and modify the mesh in another app. I did it in unity to a character using an add on for unity called simple LOD this takes any mesh( animated or static and creates lower poly versions for using as LOD( level of detail) objects that you can set up in unity to replace the hi poly mesh when the camera is away at certain distances. You can just use this to decimatethe characters poly count if you want. it keeps the animation and textures correct. Another method would be to export the .fbx and decimate it in blender or any 3d app that you can preserve the bone weights and UV textures. You can import back in with 3dxchange as a non standard character or with CC2. I used blender for my cyborg character.

I understand there are no decimations tools in iClone or CC at present, but *could there be*?
I got into iClone because it presented a complete suite for modelling, rigging and animating characters for my game. Only later did I discover that it is missing the ability to decimate models / create LODs for in-game. This is a problem, as it means I'd have to spend considerable resources on manually decimating/reskinning characters.
Reallusion devs: Can we have an auto-decimation / LOD tool, please?

Don't shoot the messenger, but this is unlikely to ever happen. iClone, while usable for creating resources elsewhere, isn't positioned for that, and the limited resources available are not going to waste their time creating such a plugin. The philosophy seems clear -- if you need to do things outside of iClone then you need to use tools outside of iClone to make whatever you want happen there. And it actually makes a lot more sense -- there are some great decimator tools out there for cheap (Daz immediately comes to mind) so it just wouldn't make RL any money to create one for the extremely limited amount of their customers who would ever need one. And Daz is what I would recommend -- it's free, and Decimator often is sale (it was on sale yesterday for $30 -- might still be).

No, but you decimate there BEFORE you bring the character into iClone.
