Hey Rampa, Thanks for replying, yes, I can see how that would work. Can't help wishing release path functioned like I imagined it should though, am currently recreating the selective attention basketball scene where there are six players throwing balls around whilst a gorilla walks through their midst. It's complicated enough without having to think about adding helper objects but that's a good workaround.
Have RL ever commented on this as far as you know, it appears others have had the same issue - it really does seem a particularly useless feature if the object snaps back to it's previous position on release?
Cheers Yan

I remember when it worked differently back in iC5, but I think it can be managed with a helper.
Create a path. Create a cube. With the cube selected, pick your initial path point. Create or add your ball to the scene. Link the ball to the cube. Advance the timeline. Select the cube. Pick a new path point (like the end of the path). Animate the ball as needed. When it comes time to send the ball back, select the cube again at whatever time in the timeline you ended up at. Pick the same point on the path (the end point) again. Move the timeline forward. Pick the first point of the path.
The end result of this will be the ball traveling with the cube from first point to last point, doing its animation, and then travelling back along the path from the last point to the first point.
It is important to know that you can pick path points in any order you wish, as well as picking the same point over again to create a pause of something moving along a path.

Hi people of iClone, I'm hoping this is not the way the software actually works but if it does then it seems to render release from path utterly useless. I have a basketball being 'thrown' (animated along a path) and being 'caught' by another character who then bounces the ball before throwing back. So, the question is, is there a method for forcing the prop to maintain its position at the end of the path upon release? If not then what possible use is this feature? Thanks, Yan
