Hello,

I wanted to know if anyone can tell me how to change the doors and windows in iClone?

Or how to make holes in the walls to be able to use windows and doors coming from the net?

I have found some tricks on this subject here or there but nothing concrete.

Thank you for your help !

well if there is no hole in the wall you can do two things
if it is UV mapped
(that is it can take a texture on its XY cartesian co-ordinates refered to as UV)
you can export that UV in the material tab map or look at the texture as a guide where to stick a black square on it for the opacity channel.
if its not UV mapped you can apply a UV projection to it right at the bottom of the material tab or in 3DXchange
Box or planar probably best.
you can then apply a texture to see how it looks to decide what xyz direction you want it projected.

the third harder option is to export it to a modeller and make a hole.
Blender and Wings3D are good free ones.

in the props folder as well as various primitives and containers etc there are some walls with holes for doors and windows you can use also
these can have textures and materials added and joined up to make rooms

At some point you are going to want to make your own props with holes and everything I have a feeling. If you have 3DXchange you will be able to import the props from other sources and the ones you might make yourself into iClone. You might want to start looking around for a simple modeling program. I think Sketchup still has free version, and there are others I'm sure, that will allow you to make simple to somewhat complex props that can be imported through 3DXchange into iClone. Just a thought....;)

again Wings3D is a good start for that.
its a simple no thrills modeller that's totally free
I myself use Carrara which is often very cheap if you are in DAZ3D's platinum club

Yes :) I Have 3DXchange, I do not understand much purpose but I can import .skp files that I download on 3d Warehouse.

In fact, I would just like to create a wall the size of iClone, integrate my window (which comes from 3D Warehouse)
and reimport the whole in iClone.

I managed to get this result by surrounding my window with resized walls in iClone.
I'll try Wings3D and Sketchup.
Thanks for your advices ;)

well you'd probably want to work with obj files for modelling rooms
Sketchup is a bit odd in that only the Pro version supports obj export most other modellers its the default export.
Another thing you can try is Sweet home 3D
http://www.sweethome3d.com
and there is bunch of modelling programs here

I made a video explaining the size in iClone and Blender.

1 Blender Unit= 1 iClone Unit = 1 Meter

I would export in fbx format though, you would have scale it again if you use obj, but you won't have to do it in fbx format.

iClone Certified Director and makes miserable Westerns.
