Hi Paumanok again.... well, I sensed you were onto a different frequency, as is always the case in this field and so I came looking about for threads on 3DX.

I do honestly love the simplicities and theatre of making bits myself as makeshift as they can be sometimes. Even my Farm has guzzled up 2 gigabytes of ram already.

But I will, I'll take a peer about in this. My current project demands a slight Chinese background flavour. Ill see what lurks.:)

Armstrong (10/31/2009)
I havent looked into this yet. Ill give this some time this weekend. in all honesty 3DXchage is something I tried in the beginings of itself, but have never gotton round to deal with it properly.

Well, Armstrong, by pure coincidence, we seemed to have covered in another thread how the creation of iClone masterpieces is a spiritual discipline for you.

Well, you know, I make it a habit to respect other people's religions, but, seriously, why not grub around in the gutter with us for a while and loot the glittering trinkets at 3DWarehouse? :ermm:

Thanks guys - those are two really outstanding examples of what's available at the 3D warehouse. What a great resource!

The SteamLev train is pretty cool. Heres one worth checking out even just to open it in sketchup and compare to the original painting (Edward Hoopers Nighthawks). In case any one was interested in tossing bogart, marilyn and such all together in one place.

Anybody who owns 3DXChange ought to head back to SketchUp's 3D Warehouse and see what's new (or at least, new to you).

I am astonished by the possibilities of these footloose and fancy, free models --both for use in iClone and outside of it. There are some stunning works available for free.

For example, someone has put his heart into a massive effort called "40acres," named after the extensive Desilu (then, Paramount) "studio backlot," or set, for scenes in Andy Griffith, Gone with the Wind, and even time-traveling Star Trek episodes.

The 40acres facades are so carefully modeled that even one of them may exceed the recommended daily allowance of polygons in 3DXC.

However, you could screencap them in SketchUp, which of course is free, free, free, and use them as mattes in your iC4 production.

I assume everyone in the forum already has SketchUp. Even if you find it too hard to use for creating new objects (I do), it's a great 3D resource.

Besides, there are plenty of lower poly models at 3DW that will import happily with 3DXC.

Use your imagination when conducting a search!

By the way, Steampunk fans, the model that seems to have caused the most excitement-- ever-- at 3DW is a spectacular maglev train called the SteamLev.

I haven't DL the model myself, but the screencap is to die for. :w00t:
