When I click on an object to place it in the scene then go to zoom out, it moves the object in the Z space instead of zooming out the camera. This is very annoying because I then have to click the zoom tool to zoom out the camera then I have to click on the Select tool again. Is there a way to disable this? If I need to move an object in the Z space I can just grab the control icon at the bottom. This doesn't seem intuitive. Am I alone on this? -Shaye

Update on this question. You can see watching the video below, the guy giving the tutorial (an official Reallusion tutorial) is running into the same problem in the middle of a tutorial. He has an object selected in 3D view and wants to zoom in...but can't because the scroll wheel moves the object instead of zooming in.
Solution: give the option to unlink the scroll wheel from moving an object? https://youtu.be/DvSmca6sI9A?t=4m43s
