Hello,

I've been looking at tutorials and videos on how to bring animation from MotionBuilder into iClone through 3DXchange, but I haven't seen any discussion of whether it's possible (and how) to bring facial animation as well as body animation over. Can this be done?

I'm specifically interested in using Faceware to create facial mocap in MotionBuilder (this can't be done directly into iClone, right?) and then import those takes into iClone (preferably along with corresponding audio so lip sync matches up). Does anyone know if this, or a similar pipeline is feasible, and if so, how it can be done?

Thanks!

You can import facial bones animations for non human character
you can't import facial bones animations for standart or non standart character
you can't import facial morph animations

My guess is we will have to wait for iC7 for this capability, Maybe this would be a good time to start a FeedBack Tracker on the subject. [HERE]

For now I'm playing with manipulating iClone's built in facial puppetry as you find in this thread.

Thank you for the replies--that's sort of what I was afraid of. I suppose I'll have to just keep my fingers crossed for something in Clone 7. My ideal scenario would be a Faceware plug-in to go along with the new Perception Neuron plug-in. That would create a killer combo for my purposes, which is pre-viz. I need to very quickly mock up scenes, and if I could just have actors do a bunch of takes and capture them, thus minimizing hand animation, that would be ideal.

I'll start a feedback tracker...

Place a link to your FeedBack Tracker entry here so it will get some recognition and some votes. Smile
