I have a WMV video (70Mb) I need converted to a gif format in Photoshop (layers)

I am experimenting. CT8 can not add a video background but it can a GIF file...so I am thinking we could convert our video to a GIF and use that as a background in CT8.
I checked the online video/GIF  converter sites and they have full rights to your video...so um NOT going there....LOL

Anyone?

I tried several different small gifs in CT8 and all it did was show the image and would not play the gif....
Why would RL add that option if it does not work?


Can someone try this out and see if you can get a GIF to play in CT8? I have the CT8 Pipeline ver.
Also, is there any other way? Composite perhaps?

Not all GIF files are animations, so the GIF format is in this case just a regular image file like JPG and PNG.

or,  sony vegas / moviestudio - renders image sequence,  then reconstruct it into a gif file

then this is a good thread to show why it's needed! Heck,  it could be it's own new line of product,  with animated gif backgrounds for ct8!

I always take the compositing route myself these days -  working at getting better at it actually - try the parallax effect with images in hitfilm,  where you break up an image and give it z-depth - who needs tons of models when you can cut up pictures!

Personally I would like to be able to use a video background in CT8.

Gifs made on web based program/converters are usually open to use by the company for any purpose they choose (read their terms). They automatically get all the usage rights they want from your works and can profit from it too.

If you do commercial work for someone then that may be a violation of their contract with you. If you sold them the usage rights.
