No, its not AI or anything that sophisticated. I'm not trying to get any program to do voice recognition and choosing an appropriate answer - a real human is doing that. The human just needs to tell CT to run one animation out of a selection, that's all. Its just a simple question on playback. I'll explain it a different way: In the CrazyTalk playback mode, there is a "play" button (the usual sideways triangle). It plays the whole animation that I have created (in my case reading a text script). I just want to be able to make it read one of several scripts that I have created. I choose which one *somehow* with my mouse. The *somehow* is the thing I am asking about. How can I get my avatar to read just one out of a collection of scripts.
Now, maybe the answer is that there is only one text-to-speech script allowed in CrazyTalk. If so, is there a work-around where I have one large script, but can jump to certain pre-set points within that larger script? i.e get the avatar to read a subset of the whole script.
An example: 1. I click (somewhere?) to choose script1 then click 'play' and my avatar says "hello" [script1 contains 'hello'] 2. I click (somewhere?) to choose script2 then click 'play' and my avatar says "what is your name?" [script2 contains 'what is your name']
Nothing more than that.

II am not sure of the interaction technique you refer to. It sounds like an Artificial Intelligence program. Interactive programs like that are very special and require special programing for what you are wanting to do. It can be done with avatars like in CT 8 and you could even use a robot.
OR if you just want to make it as a project on your computer....... you can make all of the clips individually pre-recorded (for all responses) to any questions a person will ask via typing it in and then you manually type in the key (reply) as a bat file in DOS or use an icon with the dos run command/ to launch the proper file (reply) . That is the only way using this approach.
Otherwise you need a program like a Voice recognition program that recognizes key words to launch the proper reply. Although you would still need to create bat files for each answer and relate that key word to that number of bat file and any person asking questions must have their voice recognized (pre use) on that com system so it will recognize their voice.
Yes it is a whole lot of work and programming.
Or you can have a software engineer write you a real program.... mega $$$.... Good Luck with your project

Thanks for this. It seems to explain how to create separate scripts sequentially on the timeline. But my problem is how to play them back individually. For example, I might want to play back script 6. Then later play back script 2. Then script 4 etc. The choice of script is not known in advance - I want to click with the mouse to choose it. In practice it would be like this: I am showing the screen to a (real) person with my avatar on the screen. The person asks the avatar a question. I click *somewhere* to choose one of my scripts as an appropriate response for my avatar to speak.

Ahh yes that is a big problem isn't it.. The work around is to do this...... Begin with one voice script......open your timeline (F3) click on the next automotion frame (dark Grey) and then make another text to voice or other voice script.
There ya go....... Now you can add all the voices you like for your character by doing that technique. Now enjoy your CT 8.........:D

CrazyTalk8 seems to allow me to play a single text to speech script. I would like to have several scripts and to choose which one plays with a mouse click. The idea is to allow a user to select an animated response to a another person's question. One way could be to export several movies and play each movie at the appropriate time but that is not satisfactory because of the time for the movie player to start up with the new file. Is there any way to have multiple scripts? Or is there a way to jump to a pre-set position in a script and play until another pre-set position?
