Hi guys,
I'm new to iClone and I'm trying to set up my first scenes and actors.
While I'm getting good at building scenes, I'm still issuing a lot of problems in creating actors.

My main problem is HAIR creation.
Default hairs are limited, and the hottest hairstyles expansion only adds 5+2.
The marketplace offer some content, but they are very low quality compared to the officials.

Many users say they use DAZ to create hair. Is DAZ better than CC?
Is there a way (on CC or DAZ) to finally create custom hair?

Thanks ;)

You could create hair in DAZ (using Hampton hair for women for example) and then export as a prop (OBJ or FBX file). One thing to be aware of is that hair in DAZ is often very high-poly, so you may have to decimate first to make it usable in iClone.

In iClone you can use soft cloth Physix to add dynamics to the hair.

If you are just starting out in iClone I would first concentrate on getting to know the basics of the program before worrying too much about hair.

EDIT: typo...

Sure I need to practice more with iC6+CC :)

I'm studying iC6 because I've been asked to create a 3D scene for a storyboard scene.
My problem is that the main character has a very unique hairstyle that I'd need to apply to the CC version (my employee is very demanding) and I'm still struggling to find a way to make it possible :P

Actually I solved by importing hairs from a previous installation of Mixamo FUSE I had on my hdd.
Imported the character with 3DXchange, removed the body, saved the hair and saved to iClone props :D
Now I have 9 more hairs to play with :D

I have never seen the huge draw to daz characters etc because they are so hipoly the work involved to make them low poly enough for a realtime engine is very long.  Even then when I did try getting a character below 100k poly was a challenge and the results were.. less then stellar I found.      So hands down the CC you can get hair from all over the place that is made for real time engines and put it on their heads inside iclone the only thing that is a huge issue is actual clothing mesh because we dont have enough "blanks" (what I call the meshes that are made for retexturing I guess its called clonecloth here)   to make a large variety, but these are coming.

Hair, hats etc is not an issue to me (nor are shoes really) .    I think in january we will finally see more clonecloth and hopefully the rest of the 3dexchange pipeline is going to be finished so we can create some more bits for CC characters in the way of clothing.

Everytime I played with daz I kept saying to myself that it would be just as much work to start with nothing so am i really saving time? or just substituting one time consuming process with another.   At which point I would just go make my own lol.     If I am going to spend lots of time on something let it be my own creation if I use someone elses I expect it to be ready to go with minimal tweaking (like put a new hat on him or change the skin tone or something) if I am spending hours on someone elses work to make it fit for my uses to me the time is better spent on the skills required to make it from scratch.    CC is meant for realtime usage so hands down I would pick that its worth the money to purchase the expansion packages hands down you will in the end save time and money.

I prefer using NVIDIA Hairworks with 3DS Max for creating hair......    However, you can create hair meshes in Blender (just export the head mesh via 3d exchange, bring it into blender & then build a hair mesh around it). for iC5, you can rig it & add some spring for movement or for iC6 you can use the Soft Cloth Physics to get the movement you want).  DAZ has some real nice hair, but it takes a bit of work to get the poly count low enough and still have it look good.....There are many options to create hair - find what works best for you & practice, practice practice. In the long run the end results will be worth the efforts.
