CT8 crashes whenever I import audio to my project.  It does not matter what mode I am using, whether talk, lip sync or listen.  I have also tried importing both .wav and .mp3, and in different rates and even created a clip that was just a few seconds and it still crashes.  I am using Windows 10, 64 bit and all drivers and software are updated.

I fixed this by downloading by installing a K-Lite codec pack.

I'm having the same issue but the K-Lite codec pack didn't help me.

Any other suggestions?

Are you using Windows or the Mac version?

Try switching to the Animation tab in CT8 and then select "Practice Audio". In this folder you will find many sample MP3 files. Try one of these and see if they work ok.

Audio from samples folder also crashes my system at similar time of import, so does not seem to be an issue with audio types from external source.
Also just checked a project done a week ago, with audio from same source and it is fully working, however I tried adding a test 'sample' from supplied folder crashes on 35% import time, this time is the same when attempting full import of Audio from external.
Strangely this is only and issue now, as a week ago this didn't happen with either external of the supplied sample audio files???????????????????

Okay, my problem solved, having audacity open at the same time causes issues, seemingly to 'any' audio operation in CT, as described above, even the internal samples, which are not open in any other program causes the same problem on import, so either audacity is doing strange things to codecs, or CT doesn't like sharing or similar..

I too am having crashes when I import audio or use the practice audio files.  I am using Windows 8 64 bit.  CT 7 was bullet proof  but the constant crashes by CT8 are very frustrating!

Same thing happens here. It's my first day of evaluation, when I try to add background music it crashes when importing.
Using Windows 8.1 64 bit and latest CT8 version, going to install K-Lite codec pack full to see if it helps.

As a side note never had any problem with audio before and to be honest its been ages since a program crashed, activating debuggin somethin happened regarding "vorbis" codec

PS: This solved the problem, K-lite detected an incorrect installation of vorbis codec and fixed it

My problem is fixed now as well. I wasn't letting it sit long enough. It takes about 10 or more minutes to import a 14 minute clip. It goes not responding but if you let it sit it will eventually import. Thanks.

This happens to me as well, unfortunately I am on a Mac and can't do the codec fix. Any ideas? Also it didn't happen a week ago and I have nothing open but CrazyTalk.
