Hi, I'm trying to put a curved video plane into a set in iclone 5. I can't seem to curve the plane and when I add it it a 3d arc prop it wraps around the whole object. I'm basically wanting to create the look of a curved projector screen, Any help is greatly appreciated!

Not an iClone 5 person, but when you say it "wraps around the whole object" do you mean the image you are placing there is wrapping around? If so, you can adjust this by changing the UV settings (try increasing the tiling -- this may also require some manipulation of the offset parms).

Look in "Props/3D Surface", and find "Plane_C" That will give you the approximate curve you need as a single surface. It will need a bit of scaling, as it defaults to "portrait" aspect ratio. ;)

You look new to iClone but you may not be new to 3D so you may already know this...
There is Absolutely nothing wrong with getting 'under the hood'. That is most definitely a way around things that are not available within iClone and also gives you the opportunity to create content that costs no money. But getting under the hood does cost time. One of these days grasshopper may get to understand that.
If someones spare time is as valuable to them as money then they should allways look into what is available within iClone first. Otherwise they will end up spending a lot of time 'under the hood' making things that already exists. Nothing wrong with someone making something that already exists either.....unless they would rather be working on their video than spending hours 'under the hood' making something that would have taken a few seconds to put into their scene only to find out that they already had what they made within iClone.......SUCH AS THIS CURVED SURFACE
Some people love to develop their own 3D content more than making 3D movies and that is fine and right for them Some people love to make 3D movies more than developing 3D content. And that is fine and right for them Some people hate developing 3D content alltogether and that is fine and right for them. There are plenty of people developing content that they can purchase and they don't mind paying to obtain something they hate to do and have no desire to learn how to do.
So should everyone get 'under the hood' so they don't get stuck? Well that totally depends on their own preferences the preferences of other people are irrellevant to them. Each and every option/preference is valid. If getting under the hood is not something that is enjoyable for them then there are plenty of other ways to get 'un-stuck' NO ONE will ever be STUCK just because they don't want to get under the hood themselves Getting 'under the hood' is most definitely not the only way of getting UNSTUCK

Spot on Delerna! And you can tell by the sheer number of sw00000p's iClone movies how productive his approach makes him. ;)

Another point is that while it is true that iClone is not a 3D modelling program and you cannot move specific vertices or edges within it, that does not mean you cannot make content within it. There has been a ton of tutorials made demonstrating that very thing utilising the content that does exist in iClone. Sure it may not be as efficient for pollygon count as making the model within a 3D modelling program but there are many many cases in iClone where that doesnt matter so much. IClone is a video creator not a game engine. In iClone you typically make a scene that only requires the surroundings for that scene whereas in a game engine a whole city, for example, needs to be covered. Much more critical to be polygon efficient in game engines than it is in iClone.
Many of us are making scenes for videos not games.. Yes the more polygon efficient we are the bigger and more detailed our scenes can be but they are still only scenes and making buildings, rooms, robots, roads, rivers etc etc from basic shapes can and does work very well.

I've used what's in iClone to create a curved screen (probably the plane Rampa suggested; I would have to check). It suits my purpose perfectly. I needed to show the surf at the beach and since iClone has no wave emulator I used a video of the surf at the shore and placed on a curved screen. Then I added an opacity map so that it nicely blends at the horizon. In art the only limitation is your imagination, not what you have at your disposal. The average viewer couldn't care less how you achieved something as long as it serves the story.

And if you have 3Dxchange you can do simple modeling in the free program SketchUp. It's great for making quick props and stuff!!
