Hi guys I have finally received my NEW xbox one Kinect and win kit. I installed the RL IC6 xbox/win Mocap programs HOWEVER, My Com is NOT recognizing the device (per Device Manager) but it says NOT recognized). SEE attached photos)))): It is plugged into a 3.0 USB port (have 2 x 3.0 ports) Tried both ports! The unit itself is powered up ok..... So, LOL here we go....... All drivers have been updated and win10. Apparently (a guess) is the USB device is not getting correct power? I checked both ports with other 3.0 powered devices and they work fine. so I am lost here. Any suggestions or ideas? OR is the GPU not good enough? OR do I really just need to buy a new computer......? Wo. :( PS> The GPU can be upgraded but then it needs a new type of cooling system for it. NOT worth it to me as it is a 2011 model computer. ANYwAY thanks for any tips/tricks or advice in advance....... OK Now I am getting an error message: Driver error.
So does that mean that the Kinect itself needs a driver? I have not seen any available on MS xbox site.....nor did any dick come with it..new....so?

Here's what MS says about the Kinect: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/kinect-for-windows-v2-known-issuesSo are you saying you don't get a white light on your power adapter? (You should get this regardless of whether the Kinect is actually in use -- it will turn white on boot up if everything is okay with the connections). The usual suspects here are the USB 3.0 ports and the graphics card. Note that only Intel and Renesas are supported, so if your MB isn't one of those you'll probably have problems. Also note that NOTHING else can be on that same USB circuit (and some computers use the same circuit for more than one connection). At the very least I'd unplug every other USB device you have just in case that's the issue.

NO power light at all. hummmm Bad unit? I did try a test on my other Win 7 pro computer too.....no power light either. So I plugged in my older Kinect V1 using the same software (for xbox win) Powered on OK BUT 1. The Rl software says the same NO DEVICE Connected. BUT the other Plugin program works and in the device manager it shows the Kinect drivers installed. SEE Images..... So what now? Will the V1 cam work on the Xbox software but limited? I did not fully test that. One will work but one won't recognize the device either..How is that possible? CRaaaaZY........LOL

No light (according to the Kinect docs) means "No power to hub", so I would make sure that you have the power cable both properly connected to the adapter AND it's plugged into active power (plug a lamp or something in just to make sure -- history is filled with folks who were SURE the plug they plugged an extension cord into had power, only to find it didn't). It will light even if your USB 3.0 port is bad (in that case you get a yellow light indicating no active connection, I do believe) but only when your computer is on (IOW, just because the unit is plugged into power you will not see a yellow light until you turn your computer on -- then it will turn to white when it gets a good connection). The plugins are not compatible -- there is another download for the 360 Kinect unit -- so if you want to use your older unit you will need to install that version. My gut tells me that either your adapter is bad, or the cables aren't plugged in properly (work them in and out to make sure).

Unfortunately some of the screenshots are too small to read the exact error messages you are getting. Apart from the possibility of a faulty unit, do ensure you have the correct version of the Mocap Device Plugin installed. There are three versions of the plugin so do double check you have the new version designed for the Kinect For Xbox One installed. If you wish to try out any other Kinect device you will need to uninstall the Xbox One version of the Mocap device Plugin and then install the correct version for the older Kinect. You can find the downloads in your Member Account under "Patch/Bonus". KINECT Mocap Plug-in – Xbox One: v1.0 (Release date: 10.27.2015 ) KINECT Mocap Plug-in – Xbox 360: v1.2 (Release date: 01.17.2012 ) KINECT Mocap Plug-in – Windows: v1.2 (Release date: 08.29.2012 )

Hey KT Thanks for the tips and help! I do appreciate it. I did check all of your suggestions and tips..... AND I did extensive research today all day and a check on Xbox site for info....it is evident that the Kinect Xbox has sooooooo many reports of DOA for buyers.
As I bought mine on Ebay....I now have to wait for the seller to reply for a refund......perhaps a week and if he refuses (as reported by many of his buyers) then ebay will step in and deal with it......another week or two before this may be settled. So, Welcome to Earth, Hu. SAD. So I am done. Enough problems. I will live without it. Sad I am stuck with the RL Xbox Kinect PI program though. Another loss. Wo, too many for me. I (and RL support) can not even get the V1 Kinect PI to work on Win 7......so I am stuck with the aV1 Kinect and those losses too. Geez. I give up. I'm Done.
My IC6P (x2 copies 2x coms).....nice and I do have an extensive database including motions so I will just carry on with that. I will just do what I can. IC is an awesome program. I do love it. I am not blaming RL for any of my problems. They are doing an awesome job and providing us with the best possible advanced 3d animation programs and materials. Rock on RL! I guess some computers just do not cooperate well with the Kinect.
Again, Thanks for the help. Over and OUT! Case Closed.

I have the same problem (no Picture), with my computer's USB 3 connectivity.Do not know if it's true, but according to the link below function USB only with Intel or Renesas chip.I have ordered new card now and hope this solves the problem. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/kinect-for-windows-v2-known-issues
Edit: Sorry, missed that the link was already posted above :-)

Sorry, Bray, about your situation. There is an old saying of "you get what you pay for" and in this case this may be true. It's one reason I almost never buy technology except from places I know I can easily return it and get my money back (so Amazon, Best Buy, Dell, places like that). Unfortunately, by trying to save some money you ended up with a frustrating situation (but hopefully eBay, which is a generally good place, will at the least get your money back). If it makes you feel any better, I don't think the Kinect V2 working in iClone is such a wonderful mocap solution that you should think you are missing a lot. I can see it will have uses, and I'm glad I spent the money for the plugin, but I already had the Kinect (it came with my XBox One) and if I had had to buy THAT I think I would have felt a little used. The plugin still isn't all that accurate, even with the higher resolution of the V2, and doesn't even begin to do all the Kinect V2 can do (it can't, for example, handle the body turning around, even though other software used with the Kinect in other programs can) nor do fingers or face, even though the Kinect V2 is capable of that. I am not even *SLIGHTLY* holding my breath that RL will ever upgrade the software to do those things (I think they are focused on other mocap devices). And to that end: I'll bet anyone a dollar that around this time next year mocap suits will be available for under $500 and they will be awesome. True, that's still about double what you'd pay for a Kinect solution, but they will be precise, and accurate, and do finger and other motions we will never be able to do with the Kinect V2. I am completely convinced about this -- if anything, I may be overly cautious about both the timetable and the price (IOW, it may be sooner and cheaper, but it will at least be there). At that point we will start to see some truly amazing motion files made by almost anyone.
