This is the first of my Addons/ Plugins Wanted series.
Addons/ Plugins are different from Features wanted, in that

• they take longer development time or unique expertise
• they are (probably) niche hence do not warrant Main Tool dev resources
• they are much requested features overlooked by RL (with other priorities)
  

IClone has come a long way indeed. The Market ecology mix has progressed and grown.
Plugins and addons = staple of middleware or pro tools.
Futureproofing: I hereby suggest a Wish List SubForum = Addons/ Plugins Wanted.

Onto my addon/ plugin request: 3Dconnexion Support: SpaceNavigator, SpaceMouse, SpacePilot.
This is a highly requested feature.


A quick view of WHO uses 3DConnexion products:

• Daz Studio, Sketchup, Blender, LightWave, Mudbox, Revit, Max, Maya, all ship with 3Dconnexion support.
• Unreal, Unity, Cryengine, flight sim games, space games, games that call for JOYSTICK, all ship with 3D connexion support.
• Google Earth, Astronomy apps, industry standard renderers (Octane/ Lumion etc), all ship with 3Dconnexion support.
  

IClone6 is attracting more and more CG/gamedev types users, vid editors, even architects.
Mainstream users usually find iClone's un-customisable hotkeys and clicky navigation style highly frustrating.
And old fashion too. Retro is not cool if it jams productivity and creative workflow.
3Dconnexion support could mitigate this 'noviceware residue".

More importantly for typical iCloner, 3Dconnexion helps greatly with camera path setup.
Makes it super fun and easy to record smooth camera actions.
No more jerky cam or seriously tedious camera path layout for those flight or large outdoor scenes.

For those seeking truly intuitive 3D-space controller, 3Dconnexion is like ice cream.
It's hard to go back once you've experienced it.

I will post some video links below to demonstrate how it'll improve iClone workflow.

Hope some genius plugin dev make this dream come true in iClone.
It will make a lot of people very very happy!

I've been asking and I'm gonna keep asking along with you. It speeds up so much about working in 3D space. 

I am so used to navigating 3D applications with 3DConnexion mice for so many years that I was actually surprised that iClone doesn't support it. Except for ZBrush, all my 3D applications support it natively - even Poser. I am all in for iClone supporting it too.

lol it's good to see that this is STILL being asked for.

I am not seeing really any response though from the past.

Creation begins at the core.

I can see that this is probably one of those things where they think that the old way of doing things is just fine and there's no need to improve it. This is just like the agonizing puppet controllers and the lack of an animators rig in the view window because they think that no one would want to use an animator friendly rig in lieu the outdated puppet controller. It's really made me re-evaluate Iclone as an animation tool because it lacks what I consider basic animation friendly tools. I don't want to string purchased clips together, and I don't want to keep my navigation tied to a regular mouse, or keyboard navigation. 

Well, iClone 7 has been released, and still no signs of 3D mice control. Sounds like making device drivers must be rocket science. 

I agree, i use Spacenavigator with Sketchup and DAZ, etc. A great tool that would be perfect for iClone.
We are many who wish this before, do not know why it has not been implemented.
